What about the business owners that have leased property in campustown for many years? Is someone buying there business? I don't understand why anyone believes the intention of the developer and the city of Ames? They say the area is dirty and they don't want bars and tattoo parlors? Is the debris going to go away just because they have new buildings? Isn't one of the new proposed tenants a bar chain called Brother's? Go to any city they are in and you can clearly see they are a bar that promotes college nights, one dollar drinks, and any other gimmick that is done or has been done by long time bar/tavern owners currently established in campustown. This whole development plan is a scheme using the college, tax payer money, and local business owners to generate ownership for the developer and increase property taxes for the city. Shame on Ames City for taking advantage of business proprietors and long time property owners.
