I heard today that there are residents in Ames that are doing laundry and washing their cars. Give me a break!! STOP using the water for those reasons. If you need to do laundry drive to a town that has a laundrymat and do your laundry their, or wait. We have had enough rain also that you shouldn't have to be washing your cars. Help out the City of Ames to fix our problem and help the residents in Ames also. Your only hurting all of us by using the water and not conserving it.

I also heard people were watering their lawns.
Stupidity in its highest form here.
Everyone needs to adjust just for a couple of days, perhaps a week. Just go with the flow so to speak.
From what I have read, watched, & heard from family still up there, overall the city, state, volunteers, Ames residents, etc, are doing a tremendous job.
People please remember the elderly check on them!

You need to get a real life! There are people here that are losing everything that they own and you have to make a comment like that, all you think about is yourself and not of others. I'll be thinking of you when you have an earthquake in your neighborhood and you lose everything that you own. I will be hoping and praying that everyone is alright and have sympathy for those that lost everything. Us Iowans, care about all states in the USA.

Let's give these city workers a round of applause. Yesterday I saw Mayor Campbell while she was running an errand, looking haggard and like she would appreciate a shower. THANK YOU MAYOR CAMPBELL for leading our city through unprecedented disaster, and THANKS to all those people working around the clock to restore normalcy for the rest of us! It is clear that you are putting in long hours and sacrificing so that the rest of us suffer as little as possible.

Uhm.. instead of ragging on here when you see someone watering their lawn or washing their car, why not report them for it? If you have city laws in effect for a few days, they need to enforce them.
Also, you all need to have a little sense of humor. When you lose that, you really have lost everything!
You're not the only ones affected by all of this, quit acting like you are.=)

City press conference Saturday AM announces water restrictions will be lifted at 2pm. Boil water alert will remain in effect, however. water towers have filled enough to return to somewhat normal consumption.

Me? I'll be doing laundry at 2:01.

LOL!!! People need to chill out. It sucks everyone in Ames can't do anything with water right now but just because someone writes something funny doesn't mean you have to jump all over them. I hope everything works out soon in Ames.

Yeah, I washed my car, cleaned my fish tank, filled my waterbed, watered my garden and filled my pool and jacuzzi. Then, I took an extra long shower, ahhhh!

They should look haggard, maybe they will think next time they allow buildings (Walmart,Target,Theisens) to build up the grade displacing water onto others.
