Something needs to CHANGE within 'CARE'spring and FAST. Witnessed the lack of love and care there first hand. Disgusting to say the least... My father was needing assistance and was crying with pain for 30 mins. Do YOUR job and most importantly with LOVE and COMPASSION, considering this is the field of work you have chosen .... or let someone who wants to make those lives of the paying erderly that little more happier and most importantly comfortable !!

My mother was sent there for rehab.for walking and she has other serious health issues, heart water on lungs, well i didnt receive even a friendly atmosphere when i was there every other day, they have no bedside manners, these are seniors who need a little attention, care.they need to listen to their pains.Well mother was complaining of her chest I was sitting right there when the nurse came in to give her some meds and she told my mother, "we listened to your chest today and it sounded fine" so I had told my neice who was coming to visit the next day about her chest so she called around 6:40AM and spoke to my mom (her grandmother) and then spoke to the head nurse and said call an ambulance my grandma is sick and the nurse said we just dont call because someone tells us to, we will check her vitals and call you today, well it wasnt 10 minutes they called back and said her bleed pressure was almost 200 and they are calling the ambulance at 7:30 AM, further to say the ambulance arrived at the hospital 60 minutes later, which should have been like 25 minutes tops, my mothers lungs were like a sponge they said in the emergency room her c02 level was 84 should be around 40 is normal, with her age and health issues 50 plus would be ok, neither I, my neice nor the emergency room people could get her to wake up due to the co2 level, they put a bypap on her and said if it does not come down she will be put on life support breather. eastgate is not a good place to take your elderly relative to if they can not fend for themselves. lack of staff and compasion for the people they are to help, its called doing there JOB which apparently is not good at all, she will be going to Batavia nursing which she was there last year and was handled very well, and so was the family members coming and going...she will be returning there for rehab once again. People say why do you put your parents in a nursing home? well if a doctor recommends rehab and you dont to it then you can be held for neglect of an elderly person, why cant the homes be held for neglect when you put then in there and they dont get taken care of properly? my mother would have laid there and died, cause they would have thought she was just sleeping, due to the high c02 level. Please look into where you send your loved one.

I feel your anger Gail..as with any situation involving our elderly parents, we only want the best and we are led to believe that these nursing homes have compassion and our best interests at heart...but as I have also experienced. Just trying to get an update is like pulling teeth..the staff are either at lunch, short staffed, unable to answer the phone (god forbid if it was an emergency!)The staff are rude when you do get them on the phone or on the odd occassion when you get a young new aid with compassion..she is scared off and later your told she no longer works there. I have the satisfaction knowing that when THEIR family members are needing the same care they will know what they have put us through...from being too busy to care - to loss of compassion in a rewarding job.:(

well i worked there years ago and the stories are tru so dont lie to prtotect yourself. people was stealing. there was nurses there doing drugs and even stole the patients medice they was suppose to have. any narcotic is not safe in any ones hands anymore. if your loved one is getting pain meds im sure their not getting them if the same crew is still there.

My father was there for about three weeks, one morning we got a call asking if he was hard to wake up (after waking him up for three weeks you think they would know, and they are asking us) so they then said he was unresponsive what do you want us to do DUH CALL 911 needless to say he had a massive stroke during the night and died 2 day's later:( Where were those nurses during the night sleeping or looking after patients?? On a couple occasions we sat in his chair to set the alarm off to see how long it took them to respond we turned the alarm and they did'nt respond at all, it also turned the light on outside his door. My regets are not being able to quit my job and take care of him myself. My thoughts are please avoid this place, not very caring at all.

I worked at eastgate carespring and also had a family member there. As a worker we were always under staffed, and worked our butts off and still not have time to get everything done. As for having my grandpa there we did his laundry which was always saturated in urine then a week before he passed his hip was mysteriously broken. I believe the staff knew what happened and I don't believe it was an accident if my grandma wasnt power of attorney I would've sued the pants off that horrid place, along with other problems I know like they were gonna get sued by a family for a woman contacting a urinary tract infection which she had gotten from laying in her own feces for so long without being cleaned, or the lady that had no restraint on her wheelchair when she leaned so bad her head was nearly between her knees well she fell face first in her bathroom out of her chair broke her neck and died and went 3 1/2 hours unnoticed. So you people trying to stick up for that place disgust me. So before you think you know what your talking about have a family go through hell in that shit hole they call a facility

no she is not full of crap that is the sad truth.the aids are the ones who take care of these ppl not the nurses. As with any nursing home aide don't get half the credit they deserve.

first of all. Your loved one is not the only one there. The aids take care of the residents not the nurses and they have 20 ppl each to take care of. Every day aids deal with dementia residents that hit them slap them yell at them pee on them throw poop on them trying to bite them trust me they are doing the best they can and they know what they are doing. So excuses them if they forgot to smile at you oh and I almost forgot they always get hit on and groped by the male residents. Sorry they forgot to smile at you someone in the next room just died sorry they forgot to smile at you the lady down the hall just spit on your aids face and it went in her eye. You have no idea what those aids do for your loved one how about being gratefull.

Thank you very much for giving us all a little insight. I hate to hear this about them. I mean the residents, being treated so so poorly i think if we got enough people who want to help we could make a change to Carespring eastgate. Raise money to support some activities for them....or the daily things they need. anyways thank you again.
I am beginning a Bible Study on 3/5/13 10:30 AM. This activity will be posted for any resident or otherwise to participate. I hope you can join us on any Tues at that time. I also do a Bible study for the Caresprings in Oakley on Fridays at 7:00 PM at which you can join too if the morning time is not available. I know this is not the only thing, but hopefully it helps.

GRATEFUL !
Being in the healthfield now for 20 years and have experienced spitting, cdiff, Staph, MRSA, Restraining, Combative patients as well as Alzheimers, Dementia, Psychiatric and more...I think I am well aware of what aides do & do-not do. You have the aides that are a class of their own and care about the patient above and beyond then you have those that are burn't out, collect a paycheck and do-not even give patients baths. When you attack a persons freedom of speech it should be done with FACT ! as mine clearly was. Also it should be legible ...
I clearly quoted a fact that not all staff have the compassion that should be reflected as some do at Eastgate...has this been investigated from outside sources? YES....do not state what you do not understand...if you have some guilty feelings toward this statement then choose another career..Also when your parents become in this state of mind and need help..lets see what your opinions are when you are a POA or a family member who actually still loves their loved one and wants them treated professionally and not as a means of a pay check.

This place IS HORRIBLE! Tracey Curran is a sociopathic bitch. Idk if she is still there, just supporting the OP. I worked there and I can tell you that is is one of the hardest places to work, period. They understaff ON PURPOSE and the responsibility placed on the nurses is unreal. They sweep a lot under the rug and I KNOW that people have died and been hurt there due to negligence. I called the State on them after I left. Who knows if they ever did anything. Their "rehab" is nothing more than a front to rip off medicare/medicaid/insurance. They'd park the people in the gym and claim all that time was spent doing therapy, when in fact, they were sleeping or just sitting there.
I'd send my loved one anywhere but here. Check out the newer place down the road going west on 32. I think it is called Forest Hills or Anderson Care Center, something like that. That facility is nice and they have lower nurse & aid to patient ratios...
BTW, who was arrested for stealing drugs? That seems to be a problem that runs through most of the Carespring facilities!

Gail I have had loved ones at both the homes you are referring to and you have obviously had a bad experience, but you will find as I did that the Batavia Nursing home is worse. My loved one too almost died at the Batavia home so my conclusion is that the only way to get perfect care is for you to be there and your family as much as humanly possible, because unless it is a one on one nurse/aide to resident these things WILL happen in the absolute best homes. I have also had them in Anderson which is way more elite and expensive, yet the care can not be what you would give to your own mother/father etc. Don't believe me try working with them for just one full week and you will see what I am talking about. I am a volunteer at two homes and it is exhausting beyond belief and I show the love I would for my family. My advice, Get yourself involved and quit complaining when you find out how many aches and pains the residents have and let you know about a hundred times a day.

Im_disgruntled_too, You need to get over yourself and wake up because you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. If I had to guess I would say you either don't have a job and thinks the world owes you something or if you are working, IT'S NOT WITH HUMANS!

Eastgate is a joke! They never follow rules until it benefits them. They care more about what the place looks like than the care if the residents. The girls that work are always working short handed, which then means the residents do not get the care they need and more importantly pay for. I would not send a loved one here!!!!

Overall, the facility and care is adequate, but not exceptional. My mom is in the rehab unit after knee replacement and just a few days after surgery was left with her legs dangling from her wheelchair, putting pressure on that joint. She told the staff it was bothering her but they told her it was fine. I am sure this is not standard medical care for someone who has just had a knee replaced. I mentioned this concern at her meeting and they assured me it should not have happened and would not happen again, yet the next time I went back, the supports were off again. She is not tall enough for her feet to reach the floor. She has also mentioned to the nurse that she feels the pain medicine is making her vomit, and the nurse does not take her seriously and keeps telling her there's "something going around" and makes her feel dismissed. I feel that there is not enough attention to detail and I would not feel comfortable with my mom being here long term unless I was a daily presence. The bright spot to me is the therapists seem very thorough and caring.

I applied there and i liked when i was interviewed but when i had to deal with that Becky lady at the front desk tht was a change in mind real fast ... i over heard a conversation that was very inappropriate she thinks she knows everything but she don't , mabybe if they would look into her demeanor instead of the money flow there getting from the patiients they may get rid of her and more people would apply !!!
