Now more customers will be losing channels and forced to buy the more expensive digital service in order to receive the same channels they were receiving with basic cable.

This is news! Finally we get the stuff we've been missing out on for so long. By the way, you don't HAVE to have the digital service, it is and always has been an option. No one can make you have a digital box in every room of your trailer (I mean house). That would mean people with many bedrooms etc. would have to have a digital box for each outlet, and at $10 a box would lose customers

It would be nice to hear about it from Insight or Comcast FIRST, rather than reading about it in the news...!

No, you don't have to have digital service, but Comcast is converting channels to digital only supposedly to conform to the FCC ruling that all channels must be digital by 2008. So every month we lose another channel, but still pay the same. Game show network went to digital only last month - I wonder what channel is next.

I applaud the move of Comcast and other cable companies to eliminate the staticky, grainy analog channels and move to digital. For every analog channel you eliminate you can add 6-10 480p digital channels or 3 1080i HD channels. They need to hurry up and make everyone get a box so all channels can be in HD and high quality digital.

I believe the date is actually Feb. 17, 2009. That is the date the government is saying that it wants the changes to be final.

My only concern is having to lose my email address. Im sure it will change in reguards to ISP. Instead of insightbb it will be comcast. With the cost of basic cable today, I am considering going with satellite which offers more channels.

I am a current Insight customer in Noblesville. If Comcast offers us the same thing that they offer their current customers, then we will be getting less service for more money. The cable packages are more expensive, and have less channels. The internet is much slower (like 2mb instead of 10mb) and costs around $20 more.

Boy. I can't wait for Comcast to take over (insert sarcasm here). I will probably keep my internet with them, but switch to Dish Network for TV. Grrr.

I just spoke to Insight. They said that at this time they think we will be able to keep our insightbb.com email addresses. Worst case senario is that they will forward the insightbb emails to a new comcast email adress.

Any one heard of any immediate program package changes, channels moving to different numbers etc.? According to insights website the comcast changeover is supposed to happen december 31st. I would think comcast would want to make changes as soon as they take over.

I will be saving my bill to compare all services and prices. May be going to satellite soon. Insight has not been responsive to our concerns, and there has been no news on the new offerings. I want the Big Ten Network and Fox Financial Channel. May keep the phone and internet, if service is good.

I called and talked to an Insight rep just a few days ago and she said that all the Insight channels will probably be kept with additional "Comcast" channels added. Re: HDTV, we should see TNTHD added soon to non HD Pack subs at no charge.

My husband is a technician for Comcast. While I don't know how Comcast compares to Insight in regards to how many channels you get for a specific price or whose internet service is faster, I do know that Comcast is a company that cares about its employees and their families. Comcast pays very fair wages and has excellent benefits. I have never known a company so generous in its bonuses, raises and opportunities for advancement.

Perhaps they do charge a little more than other cable companies, but I'm sure that helps them give back to their employees more than most other companies in this day and age do. Whether you hold that against them or not, is up to you.

Directv is a wonderful replacement of cable, any cable system! I switched last July and love it!
Hey, help yourself and friends and refer one another for $50 credit. NO I don't work for satellite.
But I did work for cable. Sorry.

Humph. If the above post stating that comcast internet speed is 2 mb compared to Insight's 10 mb, and for more $$- then I will be switching to DSL. Cheaper. Sounds like it's going to be just as fast.

I'm disappointed at the lack of information from either party however. I feel like we've been kept in limbo and just guessing. You'd think that they'd be more interested and caring about passing along what's going to happen so their customers don't jump ship.

As soon as I can have a reasonably priced Internet connection over satellite without having to have a land-line telephone I might go back. But as it is satellite is not even close to cable. I have TV/net/phone all over the cable line.
