If you are just going to church to hedge your bet on immortality, well then...good luck. You will need it.People, people... can we all get along? Please stop the name calling! I was brought up Catholic, hearing all those sometimes beatiful, sometimes fearful, Bible stories. Do I believe them? Not literally. I agree with whoever said they were a teaching - and controlling - tool. I choose to believe that there is a divine order in the universe, but whatever it is, it's too complex for our yet not fully developed human brains to comprehend. Every civilization on the face of this planet has, from day one, believed in a higher power, but, does any one religion have a monopoly on God, whatever He, She or It happens to be? Are we closer to the truth than the ancient Egyptians, Greek and Roman mythology, Buddha, the Mayans and other indigenous people of the Americas? I really doubt it. Yet I still go to church on the occassional Sunday. Why? It feels good, and I like the people there. I think it's more the feeling of community. And hey!, there's nothing wrong with hedging the bet on your immortal (?) soul, just in case...

I'm just trying to figure out what this has to do with Israel.
Is it someone's ascertion that the near extinction of humans 70,000 years ago was caused by the Jewish Lobby? |

Science doesn't lie Brandon?
What is it then? Pluto was a planet, then it's not a planet? Science can't even make up its mind on something that actually DOES exist. God help science on something it can't see. Good news. My Lord was the same before, now, and after. |

For Adam and Eve to have had 60 children, they would have had to produce an offspring every 9 months for 45 years. Wow, what dynamos! |
|
Thank you for proving a point. In religion you get to pick and choose what you want to accept as truth? |

I don't believe in God, but I do believe in some form of a higher power (put whatever name you want on it).
Nimral, Robin, Liz and Omar no one is trying to say your Bible is a lie but try to open your mind a little to the idea that the stories and scripters written in the Bible are meant for teaching and could have been exagerated abit. Think about society now, if someone is trying to tell a story and want people to really listen to it they exagerate details and really capture the other person's interest. Maybe it could be possible that the same thing happened with the Bible? I'm not saying the Bible is a lie, just that maybe you shouldn't take everything in it as complete and honest truth. Also way is the Old Testament and the New Testament so much different? Why did we need a New Testament if your beloved Noah, Moses, Joshua and so on and so on down the line followed the Old Testament? Why did it need to be rewritten if it is God's word? |

If you follow the Bible, it says (somewher ein there so several preist's have told me) that people lived longer then than they do now.... |

I can understand the human race almost becoming extinct!! Have you seen the women back then??? Most guys would have to be blindfolded before mating!! Unlike today's men who have no standards and will hit on anything!! It wasn't until the women started taking a little pride in themselves that the men started noticing them and wanted to mate again!! It's amazing what some crushed berries and a see through bear skin can do for a woman's confidence! I believe it was about that time frame that Og of cavetown started making fuzzy undergarments out of sabertooth tiger skins, it wasn't until he expermented with dodo feathers until the real population explosion started!!! Looking back I think modern man(and woman) owe Og a deep debt of gratitude!!!!

I thought I might see some intelligent comments on the article itself and its speculations about the growth and dispersal of the human race, but as usual there's nothing here but illiterate idiots
babbling. |

Science has been validifying the stories of the Bible for years as factual accounts in history. Science used to rebuke the possibility of the human race beginning with just one mother, now they say they've traced mitochondrial DNA to a single "Eve." People have a right to believe what they want and insulting them for it is useless. From whatever "side" your on, do you really think someone will read your post and change their mind? Stop wasting forum space with "I know I'm right" attitudes simply to ridicule people who don't believe what you do.

1 Also,if one is to believe the biblical fairy tale of Adam and Eve, we would also have to assume that they did not have belly buttons due to them being "magically created". Face it,Mary had an affair with a hunky Roman soldier,Joseph was gullible enough to buy her story and like alot of myths Christianity got wilder and wilder over time to the point that it has reached today. It's so obvious,we're advanced primates with clothes! |
