Science does not lie, Omar. I am a firm beliver in Christ, but the Bible's earlier stories were meant to teach lessons, not to be factual. Are you really stupid enough to think that a guy sat in a garden way back when writing down what Adam and Eve did? Oh, and why does the Bible prohibit incest, if you believe that Adam and Eve is true. For Adam and Eve to be true, a HUGE amount of incestuous relationships would have had to occur. Cain and Abel would have had to sleep with their MOTHER!!! Please do not make stupid comments like you did.

I don't believe in religion itself. I am a person of the earth. Made possible by the forces of nature. Brandon is right about the incest that would;ve had to happen to make the bible correct. I would like to know who Omar thinks wrote the bible, and where he got the pen and pad. The believe the bible was written by a group of "superiors of society" who wanted humankind to follow their rules and prosper under their guidelines. They wanted to make sure they had some sort of grip on the upbringing of their kind. Some people obviously took it a little TOO seriously. I am glad to finally see a believer of Christ admit that all these things cannot be factual.

About 7,000 or so years ago, the population of Earth was down to 8. Noah, his wife, their three sons and their wives. That is 8. Omar is not stupid to believe what the Bible says. The stories contained in the Bible are true. To say otherwise totally limits what God can do. Please don't call people stupid when they are tuned in to the truth. Also, according to ancient Hebrew historian Josephus, Adam and Eve had almost 60 children. Many of them were girls. With the totally pure gene pool that people had right after being created by God, it would not cause any birth defects if brothers and sisters married. The Bible also thru the years, and I am talking several hundred years at a time, limited who you could marry. Now, in this day and time, our government limits marriage within the 3rd cousin generation. This limits many birth defects. Science, more and more, has been proving stories from the Bible are actually true. Even if the scientists don't really realize what they are saying. They believe they have found Noah's Ark, or what is left of it, and for some reason it is on Mount Ararat, just like the Bible said. Scientists have found many, many old iron chariots at the bottom of the Red Sea, right where Moses led the Israelites across when they left Egypt. If you remember what happened, they were being chased by Pharoah's Army, Moses lifted his staff, and God parted the water so the Israelites could cross safely. These are not just mere stories, this is the totally Awesome Power of GOD! And, yes, it is all true. Science more and more finds things that actually prove the Bible stories are fact. Try reading it sometime. You might be pleasantly surprised.

God doesn't exist! Science has proven that we evolved from primates.
Since there are other more intelligent animals (brain wise), dolphins, why don't they go to church on Sunday.

Liz, you are awesome! Yes, all those above who will not believe are in for a really rude awakening. It is so sad when it is so easy to just take God at His word. They have heard the Word and will not believe. My Dad always said the world was full of educated idiots. Those who have all the education they want, yet refuse to believe in Jesus, and in God's word definitely fill that description. Well, they can say what they want about me being ignorant, but in the end, I win along with my Savior. So do you.

People, people... can we all get along? Please stop the name calling! I was brought up Catholic, hearing all those sometimes beatiful, sometimes fearful, Bible stories. Do I believe them? Not literally. I agree with whoever said they were a teaching - and controlling - tool. I choose to believe that there is a divine order in the universe, but whatever it is, it's too complex for our yet not fully developed human brains to comprehend. Every civilization on the face of this planet has, from day one, believed in a higher power, but, does any one religion have a monopoly on God, whatever He, She or It happens to be? Are we closer to the truth than the ancient Egyptians, Greek and Roman mythology, Buddha, the Mayans and other indigenous people of the Americas? I really doubt it. Yet I still go to church on the occassional Sunday. Why? It feels good, and I like the people there. I think it's more the feeling of community. And hey!, there's nothing wrong with hedging the bet on your immortal (?) soul, just in case...

Religion is probably the single greatest plague ever to infest humanity, and has been directly responsible for millions of deaths throughout the millenia. Ever heard of the Holy Crusades, Spanish Inquesition, Jihads, witch hunts, or countless other examples of persecution in the name of religion and your God? Your precious Bible has inspired more people to commit murder and crimes against people than anything else in recorded history.

John, there are extremists even among those who believe in nothing. Don't forget all the wars that were caused over infidelity, jealously, famine, property rights and much more that has nothing to to with religion. What religion caused WWII?
Discussion on science and the Bible being compatible can go on forever. Suffice to say that no one has ever proved the Bible wrong. From the date Adam and Eve were created, the timeline matches. This is where God, who is outside time and space connected with Man. The Hebrew word translated in to "day" more closely translates in to "time period". So there 7 distinct phases of the Earth to be seen in the geologic record(we are still taught that in public school), of which we are in the 7th which began after the last Ice Age. As for incest, it was allowed to populate the Earth, then if you read Leviticus, you will find it outlawed.The history of man is sometimes difficult to believe or comprehend to us here in modern times. Anyone out there study DNA? Tell them what they found about a common "mother" gene in all of humanity.
I am not a "Bible thumper", just a person who has read religious books of all types and studied Earth sciences for 50 years. It is an interesting journey. I would suggest every do the same before they comment on any religion or anyone that follows a religion an idiot. And those who don't follow religion are not idiots, either. But I do submit, you do believe in something, even if you don't admit it.
