Amarillo police find dead newborn in closet

Police in the Texas Panhandle say they have found a dead newborn wrapped in blankets inside a closet after a teenage girl went to a hospital for treatment.

You know, I had a hard life... VERY... I didnt have my parents... I lived with gardians... BUT, I knew right from wrong at the age of 15 and I knew what could come of anything I did. I learned from mistakes and I turned what was a bad situation into a positive one... I have two wonderful kids now and I am married. Having a hard childhood is no excuse for killing an newborn. I know for a FACT.. because I am a neighbor of the girl... that there is a POLICE OFFICER that lived a few houses away, churches, and a fire station... plenty of places to drop off a baby and not be punished... She didnt have to go this route... No excuse... I know the people on that street... she could have placed the baby any any doorstep and rang the bell and ran... I KNOW! I dont know this girl but I have lived on this street for 5 years, and I know who she is... I also know what resources were available to her and that she had other options and she knew that... Sad sad story...

she could have at least left it on a church doorstep, a firestation, etc. she wouldn't have been charged and i'm pretty sure the poor child would have been in a safe place.

You probably understand more that I do. i feel for that little baby, so many people would have take that baby and raise him with a lot of love. I also feel for the little 15 year old girl. How sad for everyone, no winners here. Except the baby who is in heaven. God bless him.

no excuses.. I ot prgenant at 16 and told my mom.. she was not happy but helped anyway.. I never thought to hurt it in any way.. Adoption did cross my mind. I ended up having a miscarriage, But i have 5 kids now and am married. I live all of htem and wouldn't think of my life any other way. I also had a rough childhood. so what you grow up and move on.. and definitely do not take it out on the innocent!!! hope she gets punished for this!

Millions of people out there have their problems and if you knew she had so many problems why didn't you help her? What ever problem she has or had should not have been the fault of the baby. This does not excuse her behavior and she should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. You should also feel guilty since you didn't do anything to help her. There is NO justification and NO excuse acceptable for doing that to a baby. People have a right to say that what she did is unforgiveable. I know she is your best friend and bless you for standing by her but what she did was one of the worst things a human being can do. I pray that little baby only lived for 5 minutes and not 5 hours. There are places under the law that she could have taken that baby and left it with no questions asked. She could have taken it to a fire department and walked away. Recently, someone left a baby girl in West El Paso at the fire department. The police are not going to inquire who the mother even was. There familes already in line to adopt her. God bless THAT little baby's Mom.

Society should have standards and there is no forgiveness for killing a baby. I guess according to you we should just go "poor thing" and let this 15 year old go. We are talking about the killing of a newborn baby here. I can look in the mirror as can most of the decent people who have posted on here and know that I have never and will never abandon a baby to die. There needs to be more responsibilty in our society not less. Society should judge people for doing wrong things to others if not everyone could just do what they want to everyone else. There has to be some standards and norms to keep civility. It has become PC to not judge people for crimes and look for excuses for them. The bottom line is she decided her own well being and privacy was more important than the well being of an innocent baby.
