San Jose mom and cranky 2-year-old kicked off Southwest flight

Full story: Inside Bay Area

"I want Daddy!" he shouted. Over and over again. Despite her embarrassment, the stay-at-home mom remained confident that once the plane took off and she fed him, Adam would calm down and take a nap - just as he had on the half-dozen other plane rides with Mom.

mistake #1. she wanted to WAIT til the flight took off before she fed him.(poor kid was probably starving hungry)
mistake #2. Wanted to wait flight in air for him to take nap. No WONDER he was cranky! he's already sooo tired!!
mistake #3. I suspect she had attitude of "not my fault, not going to do anything about it". If she acted apologetic or tried to do something about it, people wouldn't have been as annoyed.

I've been on flights many times with my children and each time i make SURE i do everything POSSIBLE to make sure my kids stay quiet. That includes giving them things that i normally don't give them: Juice, candies, unlimited DVD cartoon watching, NEW toys and books, new snacks... to the point where they really LOOK forward to airplane rides becuase it's such a treat for them. But i guess i'm lucky in that my kids don't get hyperactive from the juice/candy either. Point is.. it's responsibility of parent to be prepared and respectful of other passengers. Every situation is different of course. If infant is crying, nobody cares.. there really isn't much that can be done. I'm just talking about toddlers and older kids.

HA! Now if we could only give them the same treatment in restaurants and movie theaters. There is nothing worse than listening to a screaming kid.
