Would anyone happen to recall or know about the murder of Kay Sands found strangled and decomposed in a pasture near Amarillo in 1971? She was likely killed by Roy Alan Stuart who is in the TExas Department of Corrections for Aggravated Kidnapping, the same type crime except the victim managed to get free.

The arrest of 46-year-old Roy Alan Stuart on a charge of abducting a
woman, tying her up in his trailer and choking her has a dozen law
enforcement agencies scouring their files for unsolved rapes and murders that
fit Stuart's profile A suspect in four murders and nine sexual
assaults since 1964, Stuart has been convicted only of a 1975 rape in
Amarillo, for which he served seven years of a 15-year sentence.

Potter County Sheriff Jimmy Boydston calls Stuart "a walking
homicide, just looking for an opportunity and a victim," and said Stuart's
years of freedom "are bound to eat at any law officer who's ever dealt
with him."

Perhaps the greatest frustration is felt in Stuart's hometown of
Amarillo, where Boydston said the evidence against Stuart in eight rapes
and two murders was "overwhelming, but never quite enough."

Stuart's criminal record dates to age 14, but he was about 23 when a
series of crimes brought him under law enforcement scrutiny.

On July 13, 1971, he was arrested for the murder of Linda Kay
Simmons, whose body had been found in a pasture outside Amarillo.
Investigators could prove Stuart was with the victim shortly before her death, but
they could not prove he killed her.

The charge was dropped, but less than a week later, Stuart gave a
ride to Kay Sands, 40, a neighbor. She was never seen alive again. Her
body turned up in a field four miles north of Bushland. It appeared she
had been bludgeoned and choked. Stuart was charged Aug. 6, 1971, with
her murder.

While out on bond, Stuart tried to pick up a dancer named Neila
Wisely.

"I sat with him between shows to have a drink, and he was so creepy,
he scared me," Wisely told a reporter. She said he caught a cricket on
the floor, split it lengthwise with his pocketknife and squeezed its
blood onto the table.

She refused his request for a date, but when she got off at 2 a.m.,
she said, the tires on her car were flat -- and Stuart was waiting to
give her a ride.

Wisely said Stuart drove her to a desolate area, with the lights off
for about the last mile. She said he threatened her, got her down in
the seat and pulled off her clothes.

Stuart choked her until she passed out, then revived her. Wisely
said she struggled, planted a foot on his chest and kicked him through the
windshield, allowing her to get away.

She wandered naked through the canyon for hours, hiding every time
she heard or saw anything for fear it was Stuart. Finally, she found
help.

Two days later, Stuart had still not been charged when he visited
the home of 19-year-old Debra Morrow. Morrow said he slammed her to the
floor without warning, hit her in the head and then choked her into
unconsciousness. But as suddenly as he attacked, Morrow said, Stuart let
her go, saying, "See you around."

Am looking for any recollections of Stuart and his crimes, other victims, other information and information that potentially could bring more information to light on Roy Stuart.

The evidence was overwhelming, but never quite enough says Boydston. With DNA testing now days is there any way to prove without a doubt that Roy Allen committed these crimes?

IT IS SO STUPID HOW 1 PERSON CAN GET OFF WITH SO MANY MURDERS AND NEVER BE CAUGHT. THEY NEVER GOT HIM ON MURDER BUT THEY DID GET HIM ON KIDNAPPING. WHAT A JOKE.

It's not surprising to me at all. I lived in Amarillo, in fact I moved there a week before Sarah Dawn Lawrence was murdered by Jay Kelley Pinkerton. One crucial piece of evidence was lost, I believe it was the bloody palm print, and it cost the police chief his job. Because it was lost, Mr Pinkerton went on to murder Sherry Welch before he was finally caught, convicted and executed. I don't think there was a lot of forensics back in those days, thankfully Amarillo Police have come a long way since then!

I NEED to know if he is in jail now?! Ohh & also, you forgot to mention he murdered my grandmother March 27, 1987. She was also a prostitute like Terri Denise McDaniels. She was found November 5, 1986 & was 26 yeras old. However, my grandmother was 33 & I need to know if justice is even being served here?! I don't know if he actually killed her, but according to the Houston Chronicle, he sought out prostitutes, hitchhikers and women of "low moral character". Please help me...
