I am glad to her the girl is safe. What a scary situation to deal with at such a young age.

Again, this is why employers need to make sure there employees have time off to stay at home with a sick kid.
Sure, the mom forgot to lock the door - both those two would have figured out another way to get into the house.

Also, may a dog would help keep the intruders away.
What a nice gift for a young girl!! Hope she isn't allergic.

at 13 years old, you should be plenty responsible enough to take care of yourself for 8 hours alone. what a bright kid though, and she must have nerves of steel if the thieves were in her room. way to go kid.

Let's just hope that the crooks get something more than six months or just probation.

YEAH!

Hmm... maybe we need "textable" 911.

It's silent and won't alert the intruder...

Good work, Lauren. May you always be blessed, and may this be the last experience (such as this) that you have throughout your life. My thoughts and prayers are with you always.

Roby called 911 and raced home from work, ramming her vehicle into the back of the suspects' car parked in the driveway, authorities said.

One of the suspects, Jenna Marie Burns, came out of the house and Roby wrestled with her just as sheriff's deputies and the police chief arrived, said Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen.
Well if you mess with the cub of >that< momma bear your new name is "Claude Balls". Good for her!

a BIG dog, such as a German Shepherd or Doberman Pincer (both excellent protectors). I doubt a 'teacup' dog would be anything more than something extra to steal and derive profit from.

All states have different ages of when a child can stay home alone.
The girl is obviously mature enough to take care of herself from what I have read.
What if she was sleeping and they came into the house and she didn't hear a thing- what if's are possible - glad this wasn't one of those "what if" times

Good for her. Love it when the bad guys get caught. Another reason my son knows where the guns are and how to use them. I doubt if this is the first time this pair broke into a place.
A word relying on a dog as a deterrant- some robbers don't mind them. Sure, they bark and warn you, but it won't keep all thieves out of a house. Three times in three years the lovely youth in Memphis broke into my house with two dogs inside, one a 90lb mutt, that they beat with a metal bar the first time, second time they maced both dogs. And don't rely on an alarm as my ADT system failed twice. Yeah, we do not live there anymore.
Anybody know if the prosecutors can up the charges since a minor was in the home? Some defense attorney will try to argue since the door was unlocked technically it wasn't breaking and entering.
Glad this girl is fine.

Well at least they are in jail for now until another stupid judge agrees to let another stupid prosecutor strike a deal for time served by the time it gets to court.

That would be so cool! Unless the 911 operator falls asleep. Anyone see the recent story about the operator in Memphis that was snoring? Somebody getting their house broke into, the woman called 911, operator answered but then there was snoring - the operator fell ASLEEP! And this person got a 7 day suspension last I heard.
Text 911 - interesting idea.
