we have a new cop in town and he is on a rampage. im not saying its not good but for the stuff he stops you for is dumb. why did the normal cops never do this and what exactly are we paying the cops that have been here for a while. this guy has probably wrote more tickets in one month than any of the deputies that have been here for years. i understand he is here to clean it up some. but i know he is starting in the wrong spot. the shieriff depertment is the first place that needs to be cleaned out. half the drugs in the town stem from there. hell you dont dare go the gas station without your liscence quick to get a pop or smokes cause the new deputy chris will get you. what is his deal and its starting to hurt local businesses. like the bars and bowling alley. why are the other deputies not doing there jobs. leave it to one new guy to make all of you cops look bad. just think we pay are taxes and that pays them and they are suppose to serve and protect. the only one doing that is the new deputy chris. and this guy is just an ass. why dont the people of rocky have anything to say about this. no one care.

First off, let me hope that you are not a product of any one of the Lyon County Schools. If you are, please retake English class because your grammar, spelling, and punctuation are horrendous. Secondly, how many contradictions are you going to state while writing your blog? You state Deputy Chris is “on a rampage”,“the stuff he stops you for is dumb”,“what is his deal it is starting to hurt businesses”, and “the guy is an ass.” You indicate that he is not doing his job correctly, that he is too aggressive. Then you turn around and criticize the other deputies for not doing the same. You make statements such as “normal cops never do this”,“what exactly are we paying them for anyways,” and “why are the other deputies not doing their jobs?” So what do you want, all the deputies to do a job like Deputy Chris, or for Deputy Chris to do nothing like the rest of the cops? Third, any person can make accusations, but for an educated person to believe in them please use stats.“Half the drugs in town are being sold from the Sheriff’s Department………please show me where there is any truth behind that ambiguous statement? Deputy Chris’s actions are starting to hurt local businesses……how is it affecting their business? As a citizen of Rock Rapids, I support the Sheriff’s Department and the way they have conducted their business. When any of my kids have received a ticket, it was always their fault and I would hope that they understand the cops are doing their jobs. It sounds as if you have had dealings with Deputy Chris and seem to place blame on him. Either that, or you seem to buy into the widely spread rumors floating around town. Instead of sitting at home blogging about hurt businesses, drugs being sold from the Sheriff’s Office, and other unconfirmed rumors, take a stand and be proactive. Once you can prove any of these allegations, only then can something be done about them. Good luck.

dont worry about my spelling. all i am trying to say is what is this guys deal. he doesnt stop everyone who has a broken license plate light. only a select crowd gets messed with. i believe everyone should be treated the same no matter who you are. and ya, if your breaking the law you should have to pay. but be consistant about it. dont give this guy a ticket for this and a another guy could do the same and get away with it. believe me i know. i have a friend that works a the cop shop and her husband got stopped a while back and had been drinking and no seat belt on and deputy chris just told him that he didnt stop long enough at a stop sign. next day a family member of mine gets stopped for going 27 in a 25 and gets a ticket. its good that he is doing his job but be fair to everyone. and the local businesses he is hurting are the bars, bowling alley. ya, they are not the best places but some people do go out and socialize. but your right, if you go to those places control yourself and you will be fine. but why must deputy chris ride past them places numerous times a night just looking and waiting for someone to leave. and for the drugs in this town. well i guess all i can say is get out more and you will see. i have been to parties in this town and couldnt belive what some of the people where doing and who these people where. and your fucked in the head if you think these cops do a good job. you have no clue.

What's a deputy's job?
Chris was hired to be a deputy. His job is to protect Lyon County and keep this a safe place. I have young children and am bothered when vehicles go racing by my house. I don't want drunk people driving home from the bars and bowling alley. It's about time that somebody cracks down on people who aren't following the laws.
I think Chris is doing a fine job. I'm glad that he takes his job seriously and is enforcing laws in Rock Rapids.

I personally know Chris and think he is doing an ok job. I will agree that he has been handing out some tickets that probably would have been looked over by other deputies. I agree that at times he may pull people over who had done nothing wrong just because he saw them leaving one of the bars, and wants to make sure they aren't drunk. But I have no problem what-so-ever with that. I have 3 small children. I don't want people driving home drunk from the bar. A good friend of mine was on his way home from the bar and got pulled over for "rolling through a stop sign." Thank God he had not been drinking that night. For years the police and sherrif's department in this town has patrolled around the bars at night. Why all of a sudden is Chris out to get everyone?? The answer to that question...He isn't. He is keeping our town safe. If you are down at the bar, and are dumb enough to get into your car and drive home, I hope to God he pulls you over too. We live in a nation that has rules. The rules regarding drinking and driving are there for our protection. Yours and mine. If you don't like the fact that you could get a DUI after 3 beers, stay at home, call a friend, walk home, or for God sakes stop after that first beer. But don't come down on a person who is only trying to protect the fine people of this community. Keep up the good work Chris....
