Mother with kids held at gunpoint by Deer Park Police

I would like to share a most disturbing experience that I had with the Deer Park Police Dept May 2, 2008 @ approximately 9:00 p.m. My children and I had stepped out to grab a bite to eat @ a nearby Wendy's. We were coming home when I noticed a car speeding up behind me as I approached a stop sign. When I stopped I saw that is was a police car. Thinking nothing about it I advance through the stop sign and immediately he turns his lights on.I immediately pulled over, I think to myself what could I have possibly done? Maybe a tail light out? Mind you I have my children in the car, ages 11 and 3. I wait for the officer to come up and get my info ready for him. Then they announce for me to put my hands out of the window. I'm thinking man I have never had to do this before.My daughter is crying that she's scared and my 3 year old is crying and screaming. By this time there is another police car blocking the road off.They tell me step out of the car and ask if there is anyone else in the car. I tell them my kids are, they ask ages and was telling them to show their hands, i tell them 3 and 11.I am instructed to turn around but I notice that only one officer out of 2-3 cars is standing with his gun pointed, I walk backwards to them, as I am doing this the officer goes up and shines his light on my kids. He then tells me that there was a robbery in the neighborhood and that since I was the only car on the road they HAD to pull me over.He says you understand right? Ummmmmm...well I guess. I notice as I get in my car that there are a few more police cars in front of me sitting at the stop sign.I call and tell my husband what has happened. My children had alot of problems sleeping and eating because of this it was very upsetting to them.My children also know that there is no reason to be afraid of the police, unless you are doing something illegal.My husband came home from work and called the sargeant right away. First he told my husband that to his knowledge there was no robberies in this area and was your wife sure it wasn't Pasadena Police. She is sure my husband told him. He asked my kids age and the make of the car (which is a station wagon). He tells my husband he will call him back after he checks on this. The sargeant calls back and says that there was a robbery at Kingsdale and Center street and there was a partial plate match with the suspects car that they got off the surveillance camera. Then says that they didn't get the surveillance tape until the following morning May 3, 2008. My husband asks what is going to be done about this situation? The sargeant replies that he's sorry and they were basically just doing their job.I have only had one ticket my whole life and I am 30 years old. So I ask, what can be done about this? How would you feel? I feel totally traumatized. I didn't even receive an apology. I feel violated and well my kids are even worse.I don't feel like I was treated fairly..Is what they did even legal?
