It's amazing how many times you hear people say it's their first earthquake. I love hearing about there experiences. I was born and raised in CA and have been through several large earthquakes and I'm still terrified. I always think that people have experienced earthquakes before...but it's interesting how many people haven't. I would love to hear your stories

I live in Ripon, but I was sitting in an orchestra rehearsal at the University of Pacific in Stockton and felt my chair rock forward and saw the walls tilt back and forth twice. It was an older building and I heard the building creak and the conductors podium creaked too. It lasted about 10 seconds I guess. Definitely two distinct rolls. When I got home, my dad said he felt it for about the same length and saw the chandelier sway.

Felt it in Turlock too. My husband thought I was hallucinating. After a few calls from friends, I guess that you was the one with "shaken brain syndrome" :-)

We felt it here in Modesto. I thought one of the dogs had done something to the couch I was sitting on and I looked at my roomate and then we both said..."earthquake". It was quite funny. I am glad that it wasn't any bigger!!

WOW! we felt the earthquake pretty good! I thought someone crashed into my home because I was sitting on my couch and my body jerked forward, then I looked up and all my chandeliers and blinds were swaying back and fourth!

This was my first quake! Now that it sounds like everybody is ok and no major dammage I can just say it was exciting. I'm not originally from California so I've always wondered what a quake felt like. Glad my first taste was mild!

The big question is...is this all there is, only to be followed by minor aftershocks, or is this the precurser to the bigger one on the way in the next 24-72 hours?

I was busy carving pumpkins when I felt it. I immediately called my family in San Jose as I figured that if I felt it here in Modesto, surely they would have had it much harder there!

Earlier today a friend from Concord emailed me when the one in Concord hit. That should have been a warning. I was in SJ during the Loma Prieta earthquake so this was definitely a reminder to make sure we are prepared!

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Aquarius

Avoid making promises today, or even believing in other people's promises. Today is not a good day to make commitments, as they are not likely to materialise. Taking risks is a no-no. Try to relax until the numbers are in your favour. Those pursuing their career will benefit.
