This driver had 2 years experience driving with his parents, which included 2 years of Iowa winter driving. He was only a few days from turning 16. This type of accident could have happened to even an experienced driver. News channels reported over 60 accidents that same day. 3 other cars went into the ditch along that same road withing 1 hour after school was dismissed.
Parents need to take responsibility and educate their children on who they do and do not want them riding with. Or the parents need to arrange transportation for their children that do not want to use public transportation. All three of the kids in that vehicle asked for a ride that day, the driver did not force them to ride with him. Didn't their parents teach them how to make the decision they though would be right or ok with their parents. Sounds like poor parenting skills to me.
If a parent does not think their child is responsible or a good driver, they should stop their own child from getting a license.
Also, these people are suppose to be GOD believing people and said God had a plan, God had reasons for the accident. So, is God going to help with changing the law as well. Or stop accidents from happening.

I agree parenting is the key issue. Accidents will happen, no one is immune from them, regardless of age or experience. Teens and young adults need to understand that when they are behind the wheel, they are driving a 2,500 lb. instrument of death, and every second may count. Tougher laws will never solve the problem. Politicians just want to jump on every topic other than the economy, to try and fool us into thinking they actually care for the common citizen. Unfortunately it won't work, Incumbents gone, new lawmakers who will listen to the populace and not lobbyists for corporations is what it will take to reel this great nation back from certain collapse.

Police said inexperience contibuted to the wreck. well then why did it take the police officer 11 months to right the young man a ticket. The reporter who did thi story is not a very good one cause everyone knows about reliable sources. And she obviously doesnt know what that means and she doesnt have them. There were four kids in the car she said 1 of 3 that just shows right there how bad the reporter is. the casslers are money hungry people they told that young man who was driving the car the day it happened and months after they would not sue. But then the casslers where trying to sue that family for 4 MILLION dollars.

Im a teen driver, and i drive a big red dodge and I know that doesn't keep me safe, but I have had 2 years of experience. I took drivers ed for awhile I passed the classes, but I was taught how to drive when we had a blizzard by a instructor who drives semi trucks in bad weather and he said I did a great job in driving in this type of weather, even some of the adult drivers don't even know how to drive they usually pull out in front of me than make me slam on my brakes and than they always wonder why the get into car accidents well because they pull out in front of teen drivers and they wonder why teens are always in car accidents. I was driving home from work turning on to park a.v.e from 63rd and a teen driver passed just to turn, he was going 70 and the car in front of him was going 30 he had to slam on his brakes and he didn't get there any faster than I did. Yeah I'm a teen driver but I do not pass people just to turn, and I do not speed to get somewhere faster than the other people. Some teen drivers are stupid when they get behind a wheel. My cousin and her boyfriend were killed by an experienced driver and he was an adult, she broke her neck and was killed instantly. Some experienced drivers are stupid when they get behind the wheel too, its not just teens who are being stupid behind the wheel its some adults too.

you are all pathetic to say it is parenting. you wait til it happens to you and see your child fighting for her life. Just because you believe they are money hungry... think of the things it cost them to have to help their daughter survive.

I never said it was parenting, I think it kinda wrong to do this, but than again there are some teens out there who should still be driving with a parent just until they are ready to drive alone, some teens don't even know how to drive, but they still do. But they are right. If u go on youtube and look up horrible car wrecks every video on there is for a teen who was killed in a car accident, it is horrible to see teens killed almost everyday but teens aren't the only ones who are killing people, there are some stupid experience drivers out there who do harm others in a car accident some people don't seem to realize that its just not teens, its some adults too.
