What I love from the non informed public is that they think every slots proposal is the same as the last one. What a joke. Stickland's plan would have given Ohio a great deal compared to this Issue 3. Penn National is playing both sides of the fence. They are the funding behind that sham of an organization Letohiovote. One of the earlier posts said it correctly.. Issue 3 passes.. signatures for LetOhiovote will disappear... Issue 3 doesn't pass... there will be more than enough signatures to have another vote in 2010. One of the earlier posters said all Ohio has to do is raise the sales tax a penny and all is OK??? LOL If it was that easy then I would think Strickland wouldn't have bet his political career on slots at the tracks if all he had to do was raise the state sales tax!!

Gov has lots of options !!!!He said slots will be in Tracks by May 2010 again today, I dont think he has to listen to the court he can do another executive order over riding what they say, so at the end he wins anyway?

This is the USA not China or Russia, the people have the right to vote on things that affect them like legalize gambling. Once the State starts deciding what is best for the people, it won't be long before the desires of the people will be ignored. Do the people of Ohio really want the Governor of Ohio deciding what is best for them?

HaHaHa...perhaps the final nail in the coffin known as the state of Ohio. Once again, while the world improves a bit (with more to come), Ohio finishes LAST in everything! i would love to see a recent, realistic IQ survey nationwide. My bets are on Ohio HypoChristian Extremist Republicans to finish LAST...

River Downs was also going to sell part of their operation. Guess what.. Thats not happening. Hmm..voters in Columbus raised their own income tax. What is it about $100 extra for every 10,000 u make? Well.. fees and taxes are going up big time. The lower and middle class are going to be CRUSHED. This is a CRISIS. Way to go Ohio Supreme Court. Bob- I beg to differ. Voters in Columbus raised the taxes of the non-resident workers who didn't have a vote. If all taxpayers got a vote, this tax would have gone down in a landslide.

And increase of 1 cent....ONE PENNY in the sales tax is more than enough to cover the budget for 2 - 3 years.......I don't call that "through the roof" Topper - at what point do we say no to increased government spending? 1 penny now, what about the $6 billion we will be short because of one-time "stimulus" money? You want a 14% sales tax? Because that's where we are headed if we don't get spending in order. You would pay $4,200 just to but a new $30,000 vehicle. Bet that will stimulate car sales!

This is a real shame to places like here in Grove City. This would have created tons of new jobs that are desperatly need in Franklin Co. Not only at Beulah, but at Scioto as well. The tax money that would have be raised here in Grove City alone, was going to be huge. Just in bed-taxes and from the many more patrons visiting local resturants, especially those that sit right off of 270. What we will now see is 265 acres of empty waste (Beulah Park property). It's bad enough that we have so many empty warehouses in this town, now this!

Bob in Fort Wayne You pretty much nailed it. Most people in Ohio have no idea that Penn National is the backer for letohiovote.org and I would venture to say that most people in Ohio have no idea the real reason behind this group.
