It said on the news that Christopher Shaw, the winner of the $258 Million Powerball, has kids by two different women, and that the kids live with their mothers in Alton. Does anyone know who these kids and moms are?

Not at all - I'm just curious. He said he'd now get to see his kids whenever he wanted and will be taking them to Disney World.

If you do not know who the mom's and the kids are then either you are not from Alton or haven't lived there for long. Really it is none of your business who they are. They should be allowed to continue living their life without being in the public spotlight.

Im glad some good ol boy won all that money. Just think about it, he could come back to Alton and be the richest dude here! Hell even better he could buy all the Alton big shots like Combs, Ledgerwoods, Dorris', Campbell,Arasmiths and make them work for him! Last week ol Combs probably wouldnt loan him a dollar and now he could put in his own bank! I bet his name is Mr. Shaw now. I bet he has friends and relatives now he never even knew existed. Its really wild to think you can go to bed just a poor ol workin boy one night and wake up the next morning one of the richest people in the country! God Bless America!

Joe ~ If he truly is one of your friends, please tell him to get a really good trust & estate lawyer quickly. There are some devious people in the world and a good lawyer will be able to set up a trust for him where he can live off the interest of it. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be set for life if he does!

Sincerely,
Bette

He is not really my friend, but don't you worry about him? This is a train wreck waiting to happen. You know the mother(s) of his children are going to be cashing in now. His old buddies are going to be cashing in. His family is going to be cashing in. Every girl is going to be after him, and his girlfriend will be wanting married, hope he prenups. The temptations to gamble, drink, all the vices and sins will be there at his disposal. I'm thinking he will be flat broke within 5 years.

I do wonder if he should take the one time payment, no worries about the lottery commission's annuity going under in the future, because we don't know what will happen in 30 years. But, at least he could go broke right from the start with the annuity payments, and then learn to budget his money. But he needs to diversify, not put all his eggs in one basket. Some bonds, T-bills, real estate, gold bullion, artwork, just spread it out.

I don't know any good lawyers, they are all lawyers, but you can guarantee that there are several after him now. He needs a financial advisor, lawyer, and accountant.

You can win 50,000 and you will be harassed by mailings and scam artists. Imagine winning $60 million!

He probably doesn't even realize how much money he has, or how little. You can spend that much in a month, there are things to buy out there.

He sure doesn't know anything about budgeting, not that you can budget well when you're working poor enslaved by debt. I know he had a hard time, but he had $28 to his name. He spent 1/4 of his liquid net worth on a $5 lottery ticket, as well as cigarettes, and a soda. Now, he has millions...

I wish him well, but I don't see a happy ending.
