I'm not from another "plant" nor am I from another planet. I agree that this story should be published but out of respect for the deceased family, the ADN should not have ran that picture. Who do they have running the damn paper? Heartless pricks from what I see.

Well, so much for the low crime rate. And I agree, ADN has taken journalism to a new low here. They never should have printed that picture.

Using your logic, then we should expect the picture of the poor dead infant on ADN? It's news right? People, as a former editor of a paper (H.S. paper, but still we were taught ethics in journalism) I would have instantly booted the person who approved of this blatant sensationalism. ADN = National Enquirer...

That is horrible. And they wonder why the Citizens and children of this country are so desensitized to violence. Come on our Children access this site. Let's use a little common-sense.

The photo of a policeman writing his report with a dead body right behind him on the floor looks like something from the Police Gazette of 50 years ago. Respect the dead and the children who may have lost their mother, along with the remainder of her family who really don't need to go to your website to see their dear relative laid out on a motel room floor - DEAD! You could have completed the macabre seen by showing the photo of the woman whose clothes were blood soaked. That would have been the other bookend in this gross display.

I've lived here since 1995 and have never seen any evidence that this paper has any awareness at all of the concept of ethical journalism. It's not that they're deliberately unethical; but they are willfully ignorant. On the other hand, I haven't seen the locals clamoring for a quality paper. People get the press they deserve, don't they?

Yes, it is unpleasant to view death and so much more pleasant to sweep reality under the carpet. The US media is all too happy to pander to our tender sensibilities by not publishing news that is "too real" and that could possibly spoil our appetite for shopping.

Imagine how outraged we would be if we had to digest daily photographs of the mangled bodies of women, children, and old men in Iraq. Then imagine the outrage at seeing our dead and mangled soldiers who are our neighbors, and our family.

It would be much more difficult to maintain our complacency and gung ho support of all our imperial wars.

Occasionally the ADN gets it right. We are a violent society. We love war. We solve our problems with violence. We love the death penalty, and we had rather imprison people than help them.

None of this will change until we are outraged at all the violence and senseless loss of life and not the depiction thereof.

WHO'S in charge of the ADN? Why in the world would you think it responsible journalism to publish on the front page the deceased? This paper never ceases to amaze me.

I think that the newspaper has a duty to provide our citizens with the latest news. Showing a picture that happened to have the body of the woman in it, I am sure, was not meant to be malicious. They report the news as it happens. The face of the victim was not shown, however the severity of the situation was displayed. Would we rather be a community that portrays death as something that one will not know about until it is one's time? Come on, now?? I raise my children with reality, not in la-la land, where the Knight and Shining Armor shows up and takes care of my daughters and they live happily ever after. Alamogordo needs to realize that there are a lot of sick people here. Who will educate our children about how to react when someone tries to harm them? I educate my children... that's the best I can do. I know that I cannot prevent all harm from coming to them, but I can show them that there are some really sick people in this community and they can never be too careful to avoid violence.

Respect the dead??!!! Where is the justice for the victim? I am sure that she would like for this woman to pay for what she endured. To show her picture is doing harm??!! Are you kidding??!! There was nothing that was shown that our children don't see on TV. This is everywhere. Now it hits Alamogordo and, Lord forbid, our children are made aware of the reality??!!

Point taken, but they could have at least covered her face? Right?

Yes, good old friendly and safe Alamogordo. I think maybe some of the new people being recruited to move here may need to think twice. For a small community that touts itself on being such a great place there seems to be lots of racial hatred (recent spray painting) and MURDER!
Doesen't the HS have one of the highest pregnancy rates in the states. I wouldn't want my child attending there.

This picture of the slain woman isn't anything compared to what gets printed in other papers. At least they don't show the dead woman's face. As to being desnsitized to the violence, lets thank all of the crime shows and reality tv, what about all the computer and video games centered around death and dismemberment.
