However, the ATA is calling on the Bush administration to lower diesel prices by taking several actions, such as:
*Releasing oil from the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve. THIS WON'T GET US OFF OUR DEPENDENCE ON OIL!
*Establishing a national diesel-fuel standard. THIS WON'T GET US OFF OUR DEPENDENCE ON OIL!
*Exploring oil-rich areas in the United States that are off-limits. THIS WON'T GET US OFF OUR DEPENDENCE ON OIL!
Let's try to come up with REAL, LONGTERM solutions, not temporary ones.

Investors are running in droves looking for a place to park their money. And everywhere they run that sector shuts down. They figure people have to have gas and oil so that is where they are sitting. Airlines are going bankrupt, trucking companies will fail etc. When commodities won't sustain their wealth anymore they will pull it off the market. Right now the government is focused on saving banks. But your going to see massive bankruptcies in retail, auto's, clothing etc. As more people lose their jobs gas and oil demand shrinks. Gas and oil commodities created the problem and will be the last to fall, but it has to kill everything else first.

They can't work for no pay or profit for years while these other solutions are developed. They will all be out of business soon if this is not addressed.

Since 1975 Your Oil Buddies have been given Tax Breaks to explore for new oil, yet all they've done is buy up other Oil Companies. Last week it was reported Your Oil Buddies have SLOWED down production because They aren't making enough profit, That Slow down cost ME at the gas pumps. I suppose 40 BILLION DOLLARS in 3 months isn't enough Profit. Mr. Bush your so concerned about Terriorist destroying this Country, Look in the mirror and you'll see the Leader of the terriorist group. Bush isn't the only one here. Look to his right hand man who is a big wig with a major oil company. Hint: it is someone who makes big bucks from the tax payers and way big bucks from the oil company. VP Chaney come out of your shell.

The President has no control over gas prices. Anyone believes he does has no grasp on world economics. Gas is high due to demand and mostly due to speculators trying to make money with oil on the commodities market. Also, we have not explored for oil in this country or off its shores and we have not built any oil refineries since the 1970's. Environmentalist policies have caused this problem , not George Bush. Go get educated on this and realize that the government makes 6 times more money per gallon of gas in taxes than the oil companies make in profits. Also, if I was in business and I was losing money I would either raise prices or switch careers. That is my advice to the truckers. The government is never the solution to fix problems, they only create more.

It is ironic that the fuel that costs the least to refine is the highest to purchase. President Bush had claimed we were trying to increase fuel efficiency and diesel certainly was part of that effort. So what happens it now becomes more costly that regular gas. Diesel cars can get up to 35 mpg, yet with the increased cost it costs the same a regular gas. Amzaing how that has worked out. Someone does not want efficeincy, but rather profit. The government needs to get involved in this as depression is around the corner.

It is not that they voted Republican, it's the Republican that they voted for! It is easy to blame a particular political party, but the truth of the matter is that this country has benefited from the election of Presidents from BOTH political parties! That being said, however, people have gotten to the point that they no longer research political candidates - their ideologies or credentials to be a good President. That has never been more true in the case of the current "president" of the U.S. Now, your statement statement that the "market" is the cause of all of the despair that Americans are experience is assinine! What, is it your position that the market is a totally separate, free thinking individual that can make indepedent decisions on its own? Put the blame where it belongs! On George Bush and his incompetent, unethical, corrupt, greedy, egotistical, unAmerican administration!

In his first campaign for president, George Bush criticized President Clinton for not doing enough to lower gas prices when America's gas prices were $1.34 a gallon. He promised he would use his contacts in the oil industry and with Saudi Arabia to lower the price of crude oil.
And he has sure delivered.
Since President Bush took the oath of office seven years ago, gas prices in America have almost tripled. And yet he has done nothing to address the issue. President Bush's failure on this issue has hurt every American family and business.

The only idiots in the world are your friends in the Sierra Club and their Democrat front running eco-nazi's. What do think will be the result when they've stopped construction of ALL new refineries for the last 32 years and have stopped ALL drilling where they can ?? Even a public school product like yourself should be able to figure that out.

People Wake Up

You people are just plain nuts. The problem is all the vehicles and the demand for fuel. My are you skipping running all over town to help cut back on consumption, no most people are still going out and buying gas hogs. My dad drove a truck for 35 years, and its was rough then and he did not make big bucks with the price being 25 cents a gallon. I am stocking up on food and will be standing behind whatever it takes to help these truckers. Its absurd that they have to pay to run in every state in the union, that insurance is out of sight. And then we let the mexican truckers come into this country and run. People wake up this is just not a repulican party problem. You cant find one politian thats not crooked in this country and if you think it will be different under the next one I will sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. They are all crooks and out to line their pockets not ours. Cut back on driving, dont drive 90 miles an hour and skip this years vacation. Its the public contributing to this problem too.
