Yes, I read it. Lame and stupid! It will not go anywhere. Did you also happen to catch the letter that was posted along with it? i feel sorry for the guys that aren't in the union, they are the ones being mistreated! they are getting benefits taken away and they aren't the ones complaining.

there is merit in the lawsuit whether or not it should be followed through with. The guys you say are not in the union. it is not because they are not bitching it is because they gave up. when they started the union down there everyone was in. and yes it will effect you service. it sad to think all you are worried about is your service. how selfish. what are we going to do when our city government runs everyone off and no one wants to work for the city? what good help we will have then. and besides if those employees want to shot themselves in the foot , let them. it is not your life since all you are worried about is YOUR service. I am not pro union by any means but I am for treating workers fairly. did you read the reaoning for the lawsuit? why did the city not drug test everyone to come back to work? you don't have to be pro union to ask that question. it is not o.k. to give workers something to keep them quite so the city can get away with something else. they are more or less saying if you all don't say anything about the unfair drug testing we will give you comp. time and so on. aagain I really don't care about the suit, but i don't believe you all should bad mouth them for trying to stand up for being mistreated. if it weren't for someone standing up for themselves we would have no country. by no means am I comparing our fore fathers to the public works but it is the same mind set. I am not getting on here to argue and this is all you will hear from me so dog me all you want I really don't care. Just put yourself in their shoes and not going by what you think you know, think about what you would do if you felt you are being mistreated or treated unfairly.

Then they should quit and work at Gilster or somewhere else. They don't have to work under those harsh conditions, shame on them. Look at our men and women serving overseas. They are the ones that have a legitimate bitch. My thought is if I didn't like working at a place, then I would move on or just MAN-UP and deal with it. Some poeple you just can't please. Then a union comes in and looky here guys, we have a law suit. I bet they will lose more then what they already have. Reminds me of, Mommy, Mommy, Bobby got more cake then me!!!! Grow up people!!!

MAN-UP! hell why didn't I think of that! that will fix all of the worlds problems ! and who the hell said anything about our troops over seas? that is not even comparable. and most of those guys have been there for years why should they give up everything they have earned in retirement and benefits. screw themselves more? yeah thats what they need to do. all the city had to do is honor the contract they signed. who cares if it makes sense. that is not mine or your decision to make. sounds like you have a little bit of a bitching issue! I say it is none of our business what they feel is right. if it doesn't cost us tax payers any money. no one goes to your job and tells you to man-up when you don't like something. because it is none of their business. I'm not trying to argue but say who cares it is their deal, if it doesn't cost us anything let them shoot themselves in the foot as many times as they would like.

If they have been there for so many years, then why didn't they have left many years ago if the work conditions at public works was so harsh? Whos fault is that? Then like I said MAN UP and deal with it they dealt with it this long. They don't loose thier retirement anyways. If they were there at least five years then they will get some benifits when they retire. Are they just looking to go back to 7-3 shifts with a paid one hour lunch like they had for years? Ok your right, I shouldn't compare to the men and women overseas, there are no comparison, God Bless them, but what about Gilster? Thsoe people work day in day out with no air condition. They are in a building that can easily reach in the uper 120 degrees and the pay is crappy. I don't see them on here or in the paper suing anyone. Hmmm maybe they were told about the conditions before they started working. Did the City give the job duties and description to the workers at public works before they started work? Maybe a guide to tell them the holidays, pay scale and other things they needed to know? Thats right MAN UP and do the job you agreed to do!!

You are wrong, not EVERYBODY was in the Union. There are some smart enough to see that the Union was a bad idea.

No matter how this lawsuit ends, both the Union and the city will have lost something. It's time to call in a mediator, for the aldermen to take an active role in listening to the workers' concerns and to take the antagonist (which seems to be city manager Bill Lewis) out of the equation. The mayor has demonstrated that she's willing to help the employees, who should grasp that olive branch.

i dont see what the big deal is with the city getting sued its about time this happens alot of good workers have been forced out of there positions and out of a job for that matter. why wouldnt the city wanna sit down with the union rep and have a pow wow instead of sending lawyers to the tables. The new mayor oughta be in the middle of this whole thing like she said she would help the workers. i understand its her first term and all but still this was one of many concerns that was brought to my attention when i ran in this mayoral race. There is nothing wrong with this suit happening i for one am proud of our city guys and the work that they do. they should get good benefits and have a say in what goes on at there work and in there community. This fight has been going on long enough and its time that the union gets there say in what is happening and why certain stuff is going on. As far a Lewis lets see what about driving his own personal vehicle all the time and different ones hey he has a gas card why not drive one one day and then swap the wife might need gas in her vehicle ill take that one next. or when freeman was here he was up at tractors in the city vehicle drinking a beer. What if a city worker did that i bet he or she would be repremanded and prolly terminated from there position. i have talked to alot of the city workers i work alot with them. I back them up 100% cause its the same ole same all the time nobody wants to listen to the union representative and no one wants to sit down and talk about it union to the city. instead the city has there lawyer contact the union lawyer and they both get paid for that. For the ones that says i dont care and i dont care as long as it doesnt effect my service open your eyes look around you it does and it will. The more veteran people they lose and have to hire in newbies then the more they will have to train and that does effect the services. i cant see anyone just jumping right into fixing a water main or repairing a gas leak or installing new water main and services or what if they would have all that become the property owners to fix at there cost there is places that do that look into missouri american water and see who takes care of all there mains and services THE HOME OWNERS HAVE TO. so to the workers and the union you guys hit them hard make them pay for all they have done. And i appreciate all that you guys do for our town....
and to the ones that just dont care imagine that another puppet in perryville its a shame if more people would care more would happen in this town!!!!

How in the world were you able to spell Supercalifragilisticexpialidoc ious for your fascinating newspaper interview when you ran for mayor? Obviously, the newspaper spends a lot of time cleaning up candidates' writings. I think voters have a right to know if a candidate is able to spell or put together sentences.

Well im guessing u have a grudge against me not my fault!! I also appreciate u spelling my name right But, as far as being literate i do believe i am. Supercalifragilisticexpialidoc ious is a word i used to describe myself and yes it was a fantastic newspaper interview and i even saved it. oh, can ya believe i did actually write that all myself. You dont have to be a winner of a spelling bee or be a english teacher to beable to type and find the word you are looking for on the internet or in a dictionary. If the paper edited my writings then so be it i did not ask them to do it i would have rather had the public know how i type and write. im not scared and im not intimidated by a fake user name on topix! atleast i have enough balls to use my name and speak what i believe run for a office and try to get things changed for the better and not care what people think of me or of my status in the community so im not gonna sit here and degrade you and i will not sit here and defend myself im not hard to find look me up chat with me im always up for a good chat.
