What's there to think about? Either you stick with BH and their crappy equipment and service, or you get rid of it. Hmmmm, what's a smart consumer to do?

Haha,
Think of all the sports bars that have the NFL Sunday Ticket. If DIRECTV went out as much as cable says it does they would be out of business...

Finally, this has been needed for so long! Bright House has some of the worst service anyone has seen. All of my friends and family say the same thing. Then if you dont like it, what is your option, satellite? Does not work in storms which happens to be every day in Summer in Orlando. Bright House's service is glitchy, sub-par, and their boxes are old and never work properly. Bring on the U-verse! I'm switching the second it is available in my area. The monopoly of Bright House is over!

i saw someone in an earlier post that did say they have it. does it really matter how many people have it this second? its a new option that will be readily available in our area soon, even if this week its only available to some. Wouldn't you rather have them slowly expand and be able to handle the work then rush in, take your money and tick off the already ticked off brighthouse customers.
WELL STATED! We have endured this long of horrible service with BH, I think we can survive a few extra months of waiting for ATT to finish setting up shop and provide DECENT service. Oh how I will not miss all the glitches and freezes and outages =)

Phone rep said it should be available by end of year.
What year is that? It's the end of the year now.

On the other hand, if BrightHouse was as lousy as these whiners in this thread pretend it is, they'd have been out of business long ago.

I had Dtv all summer, only a few minutes out due to rain fade, cable was out much more when I had it. PQ is MUCH better and I get FSN (baseball) & ION which carries the Rays looks like a normal channel, which when I had BHN, it was a horrible picture. Even my wife likes DTV, and she never really notices stuff like this.

One more quick thought if you are considering U-verse and you have a family that does a lot of DVR recording... I think the 'record or watch up to 4 shows at a time' thing is total for the house. So, if you have 3 TVs, you can't be recording and watching shows on all 3 at the same time.

Be sure to do some research before you go switching to this or even DirecTV.

No matter what cable company we have, they will never go out of business. Many of us live in locations where we cannot have a satellite dish. Trust me, I'd LOVE to have DIRECTV, but right now it's Brighthouse or nothing.

I recently signed up for U-verse and cite the new digital-cable software as my driver for leaving.

I can't compare the two services yet, as U-verse hasn't been installed yet. However, let me tell you what I think of the new Brighthouse software...

Brighthouse really screwed the pooch on this "upgrade". The new interface is painfully inadequate and obviously wasn't properly vetted. They removed a fair amount of valuable information about movies. You can no longer see what genre a movie is, who directed it or who is starring in it. You used to be able to see star ratings for movies the programming list view.. Now, you have to drill down on each movie to find that information out. Totally inefficient. Also, PPV movies no longer display star ratings! And don't even get me started on how much I hate the "new" DVR features...

All in all, Brighthouse took a step back with their new interface. So much so, that I'm willing to blindly switch to U-verse.

You've summed it up nicely! I've noticed all the same things you mentioned. The recent "upgrade" of the DVR box severely detracted from their service. Even something as simple as fast forwarding through a recorded program has become a chore. I cannot believe BH did any type of testing or surveys of the new service before they rolled it out because I cannot think of one feature that has become better after the upgrade.

I'm willing to go to U Verse as well however I'm going to wait until Verizon's Fios comes up in our area so I can weigh all my options. Fios is available on Florida's gulf coast and it DOES have the NFL network. Either way, BH's days are numbered in this household.

I hope the BH folks are reading these blogs.

Lots of small changes that as a whole really make the new interface irritating.

When you mention fast forwarding being a chore now, I assume you are refering to the feature that allowed you to skip ahead 15 minutes. This is another thing that BrightHouse screwed up. The good news is that the feature still exists. The bad news for BrightHouse, is that they inexplicably changed the method for jumping ahead. BH, if your listening, that was a boneheaded move. Your new method is not in anyway improved over the last one. By changing the method you gained nothing except irate customers.

So how to use the new skip feature?

Press the fast forward button, hold it down for a few seconds, then release. It will jump you ahead 15 minutes.

Yup, I am a provider, not BH or ATT but see the same thing happen when a competitor comes in. Most all of you are a bunch of whiny b**ches. You complain, complain about a LUXURY service. Your life doesn't depend on TV or Internet. Competition is good and will hopefully result in more services and such. But from a provider, we don't mind you guys switching as there isn't a telephone/video company you won't complain about until you get everything for free....then you would still complain....this post only applies to you guys, not the majority that are good with whatever they pick

As I do hate BHN, I called ATT Uverse and what do you know, their service is not available in our area. There is a surprise. These companies are all terrible.

BJN offers no NFL network or FSN. Are you kidding me!

I was a loyal customer until the whole Orando Magic/FSN/Brighthouse fiasco. It has been 2 seasons now where I'm missing half my Magic games due to FSN and Brighthouse playing "Mine is Bigger". I have no qualms about dropping Brighthouse due to these antics.

You guys have no idea what you are talking about with bright house. They have award winning customer service, and hardly ever charge for service calls.

Once you try UVERSE you will be begging bright house to reconnect!

Try $110 to install a phone jack, attic work, forget it. If you have bright house phone service all service calls are free!
