Monday's New York Post reports that Paterson used his state credit card at the Crowne Plaza and 74 State rather than travel the 20 minutes back to his house. The hotel stays totaled more than $2,500. Maybe some of us DO care that he was using his Gov't issue credit card to stay in Albany hotels when he already has a home in Albany. If people are concerned about wasted tax dollars that should matter. (It's obvious most don't care about the ethics involved. I am left wondering why he needed a hotel room when he lived so close to the Capitol already.)

Isn't there real news happening somewhere?

Reimburse us
|
Patterson should reimburse the taxpayers. What was so crucial that he had to be 5 minutes away instaed of 20 minutes. I doubt anything NY does is that crucial intiming. If so I am sure he had a cell phone. Probably another tryst his wife did not know about. Honey, I have to stay late and work. i am sure he put it on the State card so his wife did not see it. Once a cheater always a cheater.

He's one horney old dog! I've got to give him credit for that. But what he does in his personal time is his business.
Some of the posters think it's fine, and I know it's small, but $2500.00 in hotel bill's being charged to the taxpayer is what I'm sure is only the tip of the iceberg. I see a lot of state official use trips to manhatten, and then mix in business with a shopping trip or theather tickets and hotel etc. It all adds up, and we're the ones paying for it through our taxes. I have so many friends who live in other states and pay much lower property and in some cases no income tax. They really are really killing the gooose with the golden egg's due to their greed. Young educated people are leaving the state in 1000's every year.

I don't want to be on the road when a legally blind person is driving home. He can keep the $$.:)
For all of you serious people, that was a joke.

how ridiculous...is there one politician out there who doesn't take all that he or she can get? These individuals need to be held accountable...every other citizen is...

I work for the State and believe me, if I spent $2,500 on unnecessary travel expenses I would be expected to reimburse the State and would probably be disciplined. The same should apply to Patterson.

Sigh... Then charge them all. None of our state legislators even pay for their own lunches. They all have reimbursements coming out the a-@#$#@

Question... how much does an investigation cost to find out why Patterson spent $2500???
Do we all think these investigations are free?

Maybe he was workng so late that he did not want to bother his driver (I assume he does not drive himself, maybe he worked so late and had to be in so early he just didn't want to go home, maybe he just didn't want to see his wife-there are a lot of maybe's and the fact is there is not one public figure that doesn't have questionable uses of business/state credit cards -are we going to waste time on these petty issues or are we going to let the man start fixing the real issues in this state?
