Dear America,
What are we going to do about these rising oil and gas prices? There seems to be no end in sight. Crude oil as of today reached $120.00 a barrel. The government has at least talked about trying to do something, but I believe that they are in the oil companies back pocket and ultimately it will be just more political talk (BS) and no action. These oil companies seemed to be all in cahoots with each other and who knows if they have the influence or power to manipulate the markets. I believe they do.
So it’s up to us consumers to do something about it. We have seen the emails on boycotts for certain days to not buy any fuel. The truth is that simply that doesn’t work. We still need the gas and we just fill up the next day. These companies measure their financial strength on a quarterly basis.
Here’s my idea: Why not boycott one company for the summer and force them to do something about the rising costs? Which company would have some influence to do something? I think Exxon Mobile is the answer. So let’s boycott all Exxon mobile gas stations and convenient stores for the whole summer. From May 23 (Memorial Weekend) to September 1 (Labor Day) don’t use their stores and any of their products and pass this email to all your friends and family. Heck even reply to the spam emails you get. Definitely talk about it at work, family events, social places and all and any other ways to pass the message on. Maybe if we’re lucky it will get to the press.
I think if we can impact Exxon’s bottom line next quarter then maybe something will be done.
Now if you are a shareholder I know you won’t participate in a boycott. If you are running out of gas and Exxon is the only gas station around then get the gas you need and simply avoid them next time. If you have an Exxon credit card then apply with another company and cancel that account once new account is approved. Maybe even transfer any Exxon’s credit card balance to a lower interest credit card. In my opinion Exxon has a history of unethical incidents that calls for them to be my choice for the boycott. You can do a Google search on their past and I believe you will agree.
Now I know the critics will tell you that this won’t work and perhaps their right. Many other countries utilize Exxon products and services.
However in my humble opinion I believe this a way for America to voice our outrage against these rising energy prices and that something needs to be done before these rising costs break our economy.
I think a summer long boycott of Exxon Mobile will make our voices loud and clear.
Look at Exxon’s latest earnings report and you will see how much money this company is profiting from these rising costs.
The Irving, Texas-based oil giant Exxon Mobile (XOM) Thursday posted first-quarter sales of $116.9 billion, a better performance in three months than all but 52 nations do in a year, according to the International Monetary Fund's world rankings for gross domestic product.
And Exxon got to keep $10.9 billion, or $2.03 a share, in net profit after all the bills were paid. That was up 17 percent from year-earlier earnings.
Henry Hubble, Exxon Mobil's vice president of investor relations and corporate secretary, emphasized the positive during a conference call with analysts and investors: "In an environment of high commodity prices, Exxon Mobil's outstanding portfolio of integrated businesses performed well, allowing us to deliver record first-quarter results.
Check out Exxon’s website for information.

As the writer of this email I do not own any shares of any energy companies and I have no financial investment interest in any including Exxon Mobile.
