Helen, You are looking for Winship Farm. A Mr. McArthur built a plantation house in circa 1882. It still stands today and is incredible shape. It was restored following a period of being empty.

After the house was completed, Mr.McArthur sent his building crew a few miles down the road and had them build a beautiful, quaint country church called Shiloh Methodist Church. It also still stands today.

I am also familiar with a Currie home that still stands today.
I may have a little more information for you. It is very little but could hold the key to you finding out more about the families.

Please leave an email address. I will check by periodically to see if you have left one. I will contact you with the other bits and pieces I have that might help your search.

years ago I heard the house was choosen for making the movie " Gone with the wind " But, the producers of the movie wanted to make some alterations to the house and the owners at that time quickly dismissed the idea. The last time I was in L. city the place was vacant and for sale, I'm glad to hear now there is a new owner and the house is being maintained. My hats off to them , I know there is alot of work and expense to a keep up a place like that. cudos to them!
