Alpharetta is a location full of snobbish people who think they are better than everyone else. If you dont have an income of 100,000, you automatically lookeed down upon. Also dont waste your time looking for a "affortable" home there! Drive an extra three miles north to a Canton or Cumming address. The cost of living is nearly 20 percent less and the people are much more friendly towards you.
Make sure you have excellent insurance policy because if you ever get into a fender bender, you will be sued for everything you have. Also the traffic there is worse than anywere in the state. The roads are crowed with all the stay-at-home moms on the cell phone, driving the S500 mercedes and drinking their Star-Bucks. Then cutting you off and saying its your fault.
You may ask why I have such a bitter taste of. I am a native to Alpharetta since 1960. Born and raised on a local farm, seeing the town turn from a country setting to a clustered subdivision on every vacant acre of land. I had to sell my farm due to the increasing property taxes and and people always complaining about the farm animals smell and eating there grass under the fence line on their side of the property. A farm that has been in my family for over 200 years to selling it because of property taxes and people threanting to sue me and complaining to the city commissioner. I went from paying in 1985,$600 per year to $19,000 in 2004 becasue of the 1 million plus homes being built around me. These people knew well ahead before they move next door to a farm that there would be smells, noises that are diffenent from the city night.
I am a college graduate with a PE in civil engineering. This "new money" coming to Alpharetta has ran out many of the natives and locals who have lived here there entire life. I think its great all these people are loosing there homes to foreclosure. You claim its due to higher energy and food cost. Now they know how it feels to loose something just as my farm due to overinflation.

I agree with you John Deere. I live in Alpharetta in Forsyth county. I to have realized how much more housing costs here then just a city or 2 over. Rent here is ridiculous & the schools aren't that great either.
I am sorry you lost your farm. I love local farms & farming especially if it's organic. I live right by probably the last of the farm land in Alpharetta off of McFarland & wonder when they to will have to sell out. The greedy developers won't be satisfied until they develop on every damn section of the land here.
I am a native to Georgia & have seen this state go from pretty nice to pretty disgusting. Isn't it amazing we have a water shortage yet they keep on building? Them mighty good ol boys y'all!
A Mercedes dealership moved in down the street. What do ya know suddenly a new stop light was installed in their front yard, just so the few customers and employees coming and going were well taken care of. I'm assuming the taxpayer's took care of the bill. I mean why not make Mercedes pay if they personally need their own stoplights now! Not only that but the sight of that stoplight ruined the nice view I used to have outside my window at night when I could look out & enjoy the moon & stars! Now when I look out I am blinded my a stoplight that was put their for one companies benefit! Disgusting! Mercedes I hope you go out of business. I feel as John Deere does maybe with all the foreclosures the greedy people will have to start to cut corners & sweat a little. Then we can say join the club!!

I hear you. I live in Alpharetta, and I agree with you. My neighbors are exactly what you described. I live in a nice neighborhood, moved here 2 1/2 yrs ago and if I knew then what I know now, I would have looked elsewhere.
I'm probably viewed as an outcast because of what I do for a living, it doesn't fit the mold, ans am an Obama supporter in a republican hood.

The most hateful posting I've seen in some time. It's always interesting to see how people always hate and blame the rich for all the misfortunes in life. I got news for you when you hate it brings more to you and the fact that you enjoy seeing people loose their homes due to foreclosure is not because you are "bitter" it's because your a very SICK twisted soul. I bet your one of the first people in line every week EXPECTING your handouts from the city and government too. EVER wonder why TAXES are so HIGH it's because of ALL the people won't work and myself and everyone else who does supports them by paying more taxes. People like you would be ungrateful no matter what your circumstances were. Instead of brushing yourself off and spending your energy locating a better line of work you sit with your thumb stuck in your mouth whining away your days.

I agree that Alpharetta & Johns Creek are populated by people who have an over inflated sense of self.
We are renting a home in Abbotts Pond Subdv. As soon as the neighbors determined (via their "welcoming committee") that we were renting our home, instead of purchasing it, our family has felt about as welcomed as the plague. We are paying what we feel is extremely high rent (1,800 per month) for ranch that is in so-so condition, just so that our daughter can stay within her school district. As soon as we can, we are outta there! Thanks Alpharetta!

Cool...another Obama supporter in Alpharetta. I hope you voted and also voted for the other dems. Jim Martin (Senate), Bill Jones (Congress) and Tony Patel (State Rep) all ran great campaigns. locally, Tony Patel said he was all about fixing our schools (public!) and traffic but lost. I am hoping he will run again and if he does I for one will work harder to help him out...I think he is a great new face to our local politics and will certainly bring fresh new ideas to the old guard. Lets get him to run again!

I certainly agree in regards to two points that truly are annoying: The greedy developpers and the cellphone obsessed soccer moms in their fat SUVs.
Well, to calm my soul: the foreclosers reduce the numbers of cellphone moms on the road that require so many quick reactions from defensive and attentative drivers. Moms move out. And: some developpers don't get rid of their stock (for example at Webb Bridge Road).
I hope home prices in the end get down to where they belong in Alparetta...

You guys think you are sooo rich. I live in Buckhead and HATE Alpharetta. It is such a wasteland. One hundred thousand dollars? That is not much at all. I am 14 and my parents make about triple that. Mercedes is not bad and you have not seen anything yet. S500? Childs play.

ahaha, some buckhead teen calling anywhere else 'such a wasteland' is almost beyond laughable.

Sorry to say but unless you have the money to buy the Alpharetta government, you better get used to it. EVERY single city in the US of A (not JUST Alpharetta) has had the same thing happening for over 50 years. It is is fact.
And Karen Miller, get off your ass, into your "Soccer SUV" and drive your snotty attitude off a cliff. Or even better, into Harlem.

Maybe if you went back to school and learned how to spell, or just used a spell checker, you could get a better job and make more money!

Alpharetta is a big brother police city with cameras on every other light. If you want to see a joke, check out the Homeland security page on their police's website. We pay taxes for them to have a "homeland security" officer? Worse yet, check out the kinds of normal activities they want you to report. Here is small excerpt...

Indicators of Suspicious Activities

Surveillance: Someone recording or monitoring activities. This may include the use of cameras (either still or video), note taking, drawing diagrams, annotating on maps, or using binoculars or other vision-enhancing devices.

How do people know if you make over or under 100k a year? Additionally, I really don't think a household income of 100k a year is alot of money.

You are right, it isn't much money. Not when you are used to bringing in 200k per year. And you know what? To someone who rakes in 500k per year, 200k doesn't seem like all that much ;)
