WE THE PEOPLE request that Congressional Hearings be conducted to expose the truth about smoking bans being imposed throughout the United States. We desire to once again be a free nation whose health is not controlled by special interest groups or foundations whose parent companies profit. The corruption behind these bans is widespread. We have the right as citizens to ask that Congress conduct an investigation, utilizing neutral experts who have no connection to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, World Health Organization, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation or any other organization or pharmaceutical company who has profited from these smoking bans. This petition has been signed by U.S. citizens who are of legal age to vote. This petition is not limited to one state. It is a national petition, as this plague has affected each state of these United States.

Smoking bans across the U.S. are legislated or voted in based on lies and pure greed for financial gain and/or power. We ask that the following areas be investigated:

1. Smoking bans are based on selected and cherry picked studies. Studies that show no causal relationship are either ignored, discredited or the author(s) discredited (sometimes to the point of professional ruination)
2. Ex-Surgeon General Carmona 2006 Report
3. The money behind the bans - the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
4. Those who profit
5. Who are the 53,000?
6. Why are total bans the law when we have OSHA whose job it is to protect all workers?
7. Global corruption (Congress must investigate the U.S. involvement)
8. Why are there no lifetime limits placed on donations from foundations?

I never stated no smoking laws were for profit and my list of controversial laws was only used as examples and not that I agree or disagree with any of those stated.

The RWJF/ Johnson & Johnson funds the smoking bans for smoking cessation profits

Congressional staff members, were on the RWJ payroll.
http://www.aapsonline.org/judicial/anac.htm
the entire paragraph:
The grants have strings attached. An RWJ grant to the state of Minnesota was contingent upon passage of a Clinton-like Plan (and was cancelled when the governor vetoed the legislation). But the influence of the tax-exempt foundations extends still further. A number of Task Force members, including Congressional staff members, were on the RWJ payroll. If Clinton-style reform passes, RWJ personnel will be positioned to control billions of dollars and the very lives of American citizens. Could foundations be creating a shadow government, immune from public accountability?
AAPS lawyers believe that they have found the answers to many of these questions. They will move in court by the end of March.

I think you are right. THere is a vast right wing conspiracy organized by the bowling alleys to driv profits up at the expense of freedom -- I can no longer blow smoke in other peoples faces. What a bunch of BS. Has anyone been to a bowling alley lately -- since the smoking ban? I have tried on a number of occasions to a few different bowling alleys and I don't think the ban hurt them at all. In fact I think the alleys would support keeping the ban! Every place I went there were waiting lists and lines to get lanes. I have never seen so many young families at bowling alleys.

I work in a bowling center, a 64 lane center, and business is down 20% since the ban went in effect. Let's give fact and not opinion!

Man I get so sick of the %^&*() wiener whiners that they can't smoke in your face. They cry that their frickin rights are being violated. Bring out that violin and cry me a river.

I HATE government intervention. But what else is a business supposed to do? If I had one it WOULD be no smoking and I would enforce it with a bouncer. Actually, there are certain businesses in different states and areas that DO have a smoking ban and their business IMPROVED!!

Maybe "stupidity" needs to do something else constructive to drum up GOOD business instead of encouraging a bunch of arrogant chimneys to come.

SOME of us don't go to businesses that have no smoking bans. Why? WEll, maybe a few boughts of bronchitis and pneumonia will give you a clue.

Folks like us like to be able to go to a place and play or eat; not have to cough, hack and wheeze.

You want to smoke? Take your frickin chimney fire outside.

Oh, and to "burg citizen"; why is it that anything YOU disagree with is a "right wing conspiracy"? Man do YOU need to grow up!

Define "hating one another". Last time I looked, if something YOU do causes another person distress and you do it anyway THAT'S "hate".

You don't need government intervention to make people hate one another. All it takes is a bunch of arrogant, inconsiderate folks.

Oopsie, "Burg". Pays to read ALL of your post.
I agree with you- EXCEPT in the right wing conspiracy part. Trigger. I've been in this stupid Washington, D.C. suburb longer than I care to be. Politics STINKS.

Ah, but simplicity is dead.

Well, what a business is supposed to do is this: A business is supposed to have the right to declare itself "smoking or non-smoking" and the prospective customers are supposed to decide whether to patronize the establishment or not. That would be the true American way. The fact is, however, that non-smokers feel so "Entitled" that if smoking were, indeed allowed in certain establishments, they would forget about the non-smoking restaurants and flock to the smoking ones just so they could complain.

Don't worry about it, kid-- nobody is ever FORCED to smoke-- it's always a matter of choice... a free American choice... guaranteed by the Constitution... and encroached upon by those who desire all the rights for themselves and none for anyone else.
