BoroLivin wrote: Not a baker fan - I agree! because the MRDD was so fiscally responsible, give the difference in savings to springboro schools!? What kind of crazy logic is that?? The real story here is the MRDD being good stewards of taxpayer money -- so much so they can lower taxes -- by making conscience decisions to live within their means while still accomplishing their baseline mission. Way to go MRDD!! Baker should follow their lead and trim the fat, instead of using their MRDD's achievement as justification to give more money to springboro! Again, I want to pitch the website http://www.rollbackthetax.org/ . The school board couldn't have made a better case for not supporting their own school levy than the graphic they made themselves that can be seen there. pitching the website is good, however, nothing beats "boots on the ground", ie, passing out flyers to folks in person, or at their doors and mailboxes. the flyers speak for themselves....it worked last time, especially in Settlers Walk....

How about a pay it forward action - Just talk to 3 boro residents about voting no on the issue and ask them to consider asking 3 other boro voters - I know my wife can talk to at least 6 voters so my 3 and her 3 are already taken care of. LOL

Hey it's great to see some of those "VOTE NO" yard signs hitting the scenic roads of Springboro. Let's get some more placed in the district. Also, how about an anti-levy rally like the obnoxious one the pro-levy supportors hold at the intersection of 73 and SR741, expect we won't have to put our own children at risk by having them bounce signs around while falling off the curb! I'm proud to say my small neighborhood is overwhelmingly voting NO. We do not appreciate the threats of no buses or the constant ploy for more money. I commend the MMRD for being so fiscally responsible and returning their surplus tax dollars, but I am appalled at Baker trying to use it to make the school levy seem like less of a tax burden. That guy needs to go!

baker's statement the about reduced school millage is all smoke and mirrors....by the time you add up all the millage over the next 3 years, the folks will be paying the full 5.99 mills..... I'm telling you baker and the BOE bunch CAN NOT be trusted ....

A neighbor told me about this site. I've enjoyed reading your postings. Agree with the comments about the waste (and have seen it in person) and need for better oversight. We will be happily casting our no vote August 5 for sure! They get enough of my money as it is!

Perfect planning and forethought (again!!) on the part of the BOE. Tax bills due July 31 and elections for a new levy Aug 5 (which they paid $30k of OUR money for a special election)! Perfect timing - Remind everyone how much they are getting raked over the coals on their current bill and then 5 days later ask them to vote in more! Typical planning for the BOE and Baker it seems...

Sending a no vote is the best way since they don't seem to listen to anything else but "levy speak"...

Some folks may not be aware of this.......... there is a correlation between what the folks pay in school taxes and what the state antes up...the more the folks pay, the less the state kicks in....how to reverse this?....start voting no to tax increases....

We moved about three years ago from Springboro to Mississippi on a job transfer (have you noticed now many jobs in Dayton area are heading "out ot town?"). We have a high school teacher who lives across the street from us. He makes $37,000 per year for teaching and then an extra $4000 per year for coaching high school football. During the school year his hours are extensive....probably 60 yo 75 per week or more between coaching and teaching. Yet he loves it! He never complains or questions how much he earns...just that he is doing what he wants....and enjoys having "part" of the summer off (much is spent still weight training, etc. with the football players). He also has never (nor have the schools or school boards here) ever publicly said there is a correlation between teaching and annual teacher income--yet there is tremendous pride here in the schools. Oh yes...and our property taxes are about 25% of what they were there for nearly the same size and valued home. Yes...1/4 only as much....I am NOT making this up! We didn't believe it either when we first got here. Sorry all you folks in Springboro continue to have your intelligence insulted about the correlation between high property taxes and strong education. I think it is more school board and teacher "dedication and enthusiasm" that does the trick. Our children had many fine teachers in Springboro....probably vast majority ARE very dedicated and maybe even a little embarrassed about all the school board and especially school superintendent GREED that exists there.

Actually you have to watch that type of thinking because there is a base that Ohio pays and any thing the school gets (levies) is frosting - They won't go below the base (dayton/cincinnati schools are an example)

So, if that is true, Springboro's share from the state, at one time, was above the "base" that you mention.

To bad all you people cant afford $83.30 per 200K. I know times are tough, but not that tough. Yea, our kids don't need thing like new text books, busing, low student to teach ratios, sports, arts, music... Wow, I hope for your sake that natural gas prices don't go up - you all can't afford it. Its going to be a cold winter for you!!
