Took my Liberty over there cause of a squeal when accelerating. Just wanted someone to jump in and give me a quick hint what that was. The guy at the desk wandered off into the service area - I guess to find out who/what/when could look at it. Anyway, while he's gone, I notice on the wall that it costs $40 for diagnosis. When the guy came back he said they'd see it on Thursday (this happened Tuesday). So I asked him at what point does this $40 thing kick in and he said if you bring it in it will cost $40. WHAT!!!! I walked out saying I just wanted someone to jump in, take it around the block and give me an idea of what it might be and that I can get that for FREE elsewhere. What the heck and what the rip-off. I came home and looked it up on the internet. Found a Jeep forum where a guy described exactly what I had going on with my Liberty. The answers there said to replace the serpentine belt. Diagnosis----------FREE!!!!!!

Well, this is an example of how customer service has changed. You would think that they would give it a quick look and then you would be more inclined to have your vehicle serviced there. Big corporations don't seem to get it.

Not all places are like this. Next time, go to Bretts Auto on Chisholm Street. He's the most honest and reasonable guy we've ever been to. He'd check it out for ya.

Guess it's all in the way you look at it. I'd say it's good business practice. I've gone in for a 'noise' that's bothering me and he checked it out and it was a bolt tightening thing and he fixed it and said no cost. Whenever something is wrong he fixes it quickly and reasonably. I wouldn't go anywhere else. He has my trust and that's what good customer relations is all about isn't it?

You can't have customer relations with out a business and you cant have a business with out income and you cant get income by giving away your service for free...

When you come across someone like that you feel you can trust them with your money--not like you'll be ripped off.

I love Bretts because they are great and they are very fair----NOT CROOKS. Have a thriving business. I've told all my friends about them and they go there and are quite pleased. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Have also gotten free fixes on minor 'couple of minute' problems. Go where you want. The only time I go elsewhere is when it is covered by my warranty. I'd be stupid if I didn't take advantage of the warranty. lol I have 3 vehicles. Only 1 is under warranty. When it isn't, Brett, here it comes.

Maybe it cost money because in the real world you can't figure out what's wrong by taking it around the block, it involves test, labor time to check the nook and crannys of a vehicle, I bet you would get pissed if you had an MRI then had to pay for cause you just wanted a doctor to tell you wants wrong

No but I do get pissed when I do get an MRI and this GREAT hospital tells me it's just a migraine and sends me home. Next day they have the police at my door telling me to get to the hospital immediately because I have a brain hemorrhage and helicopter me to Saginaw. Great hospital we have.
