They'll just lure minorities from Flint who'll knock up the local strumpets. Bad news all the way around. We have too many uneducated young mothers with no prospects in this town. They have two, three, four kids and more! Very sad. We don't need mixed race babies in Alpena!
News flash retard, there already is half breeds runing around alpena!!

why in the world would people from Flint by pass Saginaw and 75 to Gaylord to come to Alpena?? Get real.... with gas prices being what they are we need places to shop for clothing , furniture and groceries. I doubt it will happen but I would love ti see a Meijers or Target come to Alpena.

Another unfortunate fact of this town - people can't seem to create their own posting ids. But then I'm kind of flattered that you want to be me. I like being me to because I'm not you.

I'm not sure why you think that people in Flint, Saginaw and Gaylord would come to Alpena just for a Meijers. Ummmmm, the purpose of a Meijers HERE is for the people who live HERE, not downstate. If someone is stupid enough to waste the gas coming up here for that and don't know there's a Meijers in their backyard, well congrats to the gas stations, haha.

I don't think this area can really support a store just like them. I know walmart is busy, but kmart would be gone, maybe Niemans. lots of people moved away population is down, its noticible, look at the Posen festival, even tho it was success, you can tell its was down in attendance. So I don't think the area right now can support Meijers.

People in Alpena hate change and that's why half of the people are without jobs and move out of town. Think... Meijer in Alpena would mean more jobs, cheaper gas, cheaper groceries, and clothes! Time to advance to the future people before Alpena goes under.

When That gas station and walmart partnered to each other, people said CHEAPER GAS. One cent cheaper. That Blarney Castle bought out gas stations, people said CHEAPER GAS. same price as its competitions. Walmart promised more jobs.... now its mostly part time no benefits. The old Kurvans said when they reopened... CHEAPER GAS and MORE JOBS.

Reality is Meijers will not change anything, unless we bring back good paying jobsto many empty houses for sale and to many empty apartments for rent here.

Honestly I moved out of Alpena. Meijer is much better than walmart and much cheaper. People don't like change. Whether it be part time or not it's better than no jobs. There are so many empty places because people leave for jobs. This will bring more jobs which will help people stay in the community. I am looking at moving back and yes there are good jobs there and they are hiring. It's the people with no experience or ones that are too lazy to actually try that say there's not.

Go inside buy a gas card and it's even 10 cents cheaper. Others city strive because people accept change.

With part time jobs and below poverty level full time jobs, people have to buy that inside gas card!!!

I would love to see a meijers come to town, I think that is just what we need. A job is better than no job. We need the competition.

Omg i cant believe some of the comments! Seriously mixed race babies? We have enough dont need meijer? Where do some of u people come from! How is this town ever going to prosper and provide more oppertunity for the youth if we keep allowing retirees to maintain alpena as a retirement community? Everyone complains about prices well hello theres no competition here for anyone to lower prices. Choices, oppertunity, thats what we need to rebuild alpena, we could use both target and meijers!!!
We don't need no more stores and we sure don't need no mixed race people here! Meyers is a shiitt store!
