If she (Jana) is trying so hard to improve and keep a watchful eye on the financial status of the district then why did she waste so much money her first year as Supt? Things that were totally uncalled for .... windows in doors to offices at the board building, new desk for everyone, gazebo, new carpet, paint, new trucks and equipment, truck and gas for employees to drive back and forth to work, landscaping at the board building, glass top for conference tables, color copiers and let us not forget all the paid time off she takes and allows the CFO to work just a few hours a day and continue to pay him $140K a year. Look at all the jobs she has given to friends and family of board members instead of those qualified ... Look at all the jobs created to keep people happy and paid well ... I wish someone could post the stats of local districts to see where we rank with hiring back retirees and paying them very well. But what I really wish is that we could elect a school board that isn't going to say yes to everything the super wants. The confidence vote Monday night made the board look totally stupid. If they agree with everything Jana has done, they are so far out there they are useless. The writin is on the wall ... With JB in the position she's in, CUSD will be the next E ST LOUIS ... JB has proven a woman can't do the job as well as a man did for the past umpteen years.

I can agree with most of what my opinion said, except the chauvinistic comment at the end. It really doesn't matter if the super is a man or a woman or it really shouldn't. What should matter when electing someone is if they can do the job or not. CSD is in trouble and I think they do need SOMEONE that is qualified to come in and help get things back into order for the sake of the children in the district. They're the ones that are going to lose out of a proper education that is needed these days to get anywhere in the real world.

I think a lot of people are missing the point. The district spends mucho money employing a chief financial officer. I believe he makes more than the super. I hear nothing about this person. Isn't his job to procure monies, financing, and keeping the watchful eye on spending and budgets? Seem as though the most of the blame is being put on the wrong person. I think this person also thinks he will be your next super. But hopefully they check his credentials. His qualifications and certificates do not allow him to be a super in the state of Illinois.

You are correct with his job description ... BUT he would need to be there more than he is to do his job. His hours should be 8 - 4 just like everyone else ... the man is seldome there before 11 ... then takes a 3 hour lunch and very rarely will he come back. Or he takes off because of family issues. At one time I think we counted he took off 8 times for his grandmothers funeral. And his brother has been near death for the past 6 years. Or it's girlfriend/ex-girlfriend issues.

And my remark about her being a woman just meant that the men before her were not the least bit worried about how the district looked but more how well the students were educated. If they would have misused grants it would have been for educational purpose not cosmetic

I see I hit a nerve MrsB ... so sorry about that. But please show me where a man screwed up the district half as bad as you have in half the time?
Take the carpet in the board room as just one example. It was good enough for how long but they you come along and want to redo the whole damn building. Was that suppose to improve the quality of education when you get yourself and all others a bigger, plumper chair and nicer desk to park your big butts on while you sit and chat about the family.

At least you couldn't deny you let Mr. Harvey get away with screwing the district over.

My son came home today and said that he heard one of the board members wanted to give all the graduating seniors that are going to college lap top computer, but the rest of the board members said "NO". Also the coaches said board members are getting tired of them buying meals for players that never have any money for food when they play away from the school. Boy what these kids hear at school.
