In 1949-Charles Ellsworth Marquette, his wife Dorothy Masako Marquette and their four small children moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Lawndale, CA They purchased a small 2BR house nestled on the back of the property located at 4419 W. 163rd St.
In 1953. 1954, and 1956 three more children were born while residing at this same address. In 1957-Charles built a bigger home in the front lot for his wife and their seven children. Then, the addresses became 4419 and 4419 1/2 W. 163rd. In 1963-Charles passed away in the very same house he had built, due to heart failure in his sleep. In 1971-Cal Trans bought the ppty from his wife. Dorothy will be 90yrs old in March, it would be nice to name the park as a Marquette memorial. If you would like more info please reply. Thank you |
