Dear Tourists;

For those of you who are flooding into town this weekend to ride the train and clogging up Everett Street, can we remind you of just one little law we have here in North Carolina.

See those maroon colored brick crosswalks that located about every 100 feet or less across the street? Those are called crosswalks for a reason.

So please stop running out in front of cars in the middle of the road and then giving us nasty looks when we have to slam on our brakes to keep from hitting you!

I am fully aware it is a law that traffic stops for people in CROSSWALKS! I will be happy to do so because I expect you to be there and am watching for you to try to cross, but when you come darting out from behind a car parked along side the roads, it is annoying and dangerous!

Learn some common sense! And a word to our local law enforcment, I know you are stretched thin and we appreciate your hard work and dedication, but would it be possible to have an officer out on busy weekends at the GSMRR to keep an eye on this? Out of curosity, do we not have jaywalking laws for this?

Great point!!!! Pleeeease people, someone might not stop in time. It's irritating enough to have to stop at every crosswalk, but I'll do that all day long to keep from hitting someone and I really appreciate it when someone stops for me to cross. Again, great post!

Amen to that! I have family in Bryson City that I love to visit on the weekends, but I avoid downtown and specifically the area around the railway station because the tourists take over the town and apparently forget to pack their brains and common sense for the trip!
