Verizon to launch LI TV channel

Verizon 's long-discussed Long Island television news channel will be "coming soon," according to a promotional clip, in what would be a big step into the territory of Bethpage-based rival Cablevision Systems Corp.

when is FIOS gonna be available in my neighborhood?

I get flyers everyday for a year telling me to call.

I call and I am told FIOs is not available

The spots for all the optimum services are local content ads which they cant seem to sell to local or national businesses. Thus they fill the air time by putting their three ads on ad interim.

The Crookhaven town government are holding up the FIOS. The towns west of use have it and if Crookhaven doesn't move on it the towns east of use will have it before we do.

Listen Mr Jim Maiella guy. Your catchy song commercials won't hold up forever. News 12 was probably the reason why a lot of people held off from switching to Fios. Now your in trouble!

It seems everyone I talk to hates cablevision. Their customer service is anything but service and they hit you with fees out of no where. Hopefully Verizon will actually give a HOOT about their customers.

Verizon came out to Rockaway and offered everyone Fios and Television to come shortly. They instead installed satellite dishes for the Tv part. The building is all wired and except for the few who took the package TV never showed up! I'm beginning to like time warmer better and their response is faster now. They tell me the delay is because there is no room in the Central Office for the equipment...Years ago there were over 300 operator in the building and I worked when I retired.
There were at least 2 empty floor at that time. When do we get Fios and cable here ?

My 7-year old knows that when an Optimum commercial comes on, MUTE BUTTON! The commercials alone make me want to cancel the service.

Interesting... I'm surprised the article isn't more slanted towards Cablevision - especially given the fact that CVC owns Newsday, and also that Cablevision's shady, starting form the top (google James Dolan). I would say give Cablevision a month to get their hooks in Newsday's reporting - then you'll see a much different story.
