Wow--breaking news on a Sunday night! Long Island administrators make more than the city? I would have never guessed--what a privilege to work in that slum, with all the lowest paid, highly stressed cops and other public servants, administrators don't need money--they get to say they work for new york city

Funny how the Island Trees Super was interviewed. He hired his wifes friends husband for a nice cushy job as IT administrator in the district. Funny part is his last job was working as a low level tech and a geek squad tech. Yep, quality individual making good $$$$ while having no qualifications other than a wife thats friends with the "supers" wife. This is the guy making technology decisions for our kids future....

If your going to hire people for good $$$, at least get qualified individuals in there!

We're hemorrhaging money folks - there is no one at the helm to save this ship because those who make and enforce the rules are at the public trough. these people cannot be expected to monitor themselves as the money spigot is there for the taking. The "hired" lawyers write up the contracts for the superintendants and the administrators in turn collude with those privately owned lawfirms to pay them back for the generous suggested salaries by putting the lawyer down as a school employee (Carol Hoffman - Jaspan Schlesinger Hoffman) so they can steal pension money later on when retiring - SUBSIDIZE their own corporate pension from the firm. The best any of these "administrators" (having vague and duplicative duties) can suggest is to cut BUS TRANSPORTATION, PRINTING AND "OTHERS" outside contracts - just don't take away THEIR MONEY. Like the County - there are at least two jobs for every REAL job needed within the school districts. The system is overstuffed with nepotism. Just too much money available to them because we are overtaxed.

Yes - the that guy who didn't know his ass from his elbow when Hurrican Katrina hit - you know, Bush's friend "Brownie". That's the way politics work - they give the job to their cronies - whoever worked on behalf of the "party" to get the candidate elected - not the person who is best qualified. In the case of the FEMA fiasco - the guy at the top HAD NO RELATIVE EXPERIENCE for that job. Didn't have a clue how to handle it and those underneath had no authority to take better actions.

Vote NO to every district's Budget. Modern day version of a Boston Tea Party. I want to see every district budget voted down to send a message. We all must unite no matter what town you live in. Wake up people just because you have children in the system do not believe the hype that their education will suffer if you vote no. Each district has millions between the lines of the budget codes. Let me give you a easy example how much money was saved this year on snow removal? Where does that unspent money go? Is that a easy enough question for all the Soccer Mothers?

It's a good story and a valid one for public scrutiny. Has anyone checked the recruitment practices for ethnic, linguistic as well as geographic diversity in the schools of Nassau and Suffolk Counties? What about expendature for same which runs into the thousands upon thousands of dollars.

Our whole family hates Long Island. We are leaving and never coming back, even to visit. We are not paying for all of this anymore. I predict this place will collapse as fast as a WallStreet stock soon.

School administrators SHOULD BE FORCED TO TEACH 50% of their work time. They are completely out of touch with the business of school.

Most of them are IGNORANT about the subject taught. They do not seek advice of experienced teachers, thereby making ABSOLUTELY STUPID MISTAKES that spectacularly magnify their ignorance.

One idiotic administrator had a civics teacher teaching chemistry and a brass player teaching string orchestra. Both of these courses/programs fell apart.

Taxpayers are fed up with OVER-ADMINISTRATION, over-payment, unnecessary duplication, weakened roles of teachers, phony buraucratic busy-work given teachers and parents to make it look as if the administrator is "doing something."

It's time to CHANGE THE SYSTEM. Dump the multiple school districts, their over-paid and unnecessary administrators. Lower school taxes that overburden homeowners of Long Island.

Long Islnad schools do so well on testing because they are TAUGHT "Testing 101." When my oldest daughter took Biology, the test was unreadable, even to PhDs. However, the coursework consisted of taking a Regent's test every week. Two years later, when my twins took Biology, the teacher refused to teach anything substantial. Why? The new Regents test format wasn't released yet. So, the level of instruction is not greater. The students aren't learning anything more than other areas, but they sure are learing how to take those tests!

YES!!!! And please start listing the salaries and names for each district ... Suffolk especially . To find out anything in the district is like pulling teeth with the freedowm of information act and then all the people in district office giving you negative vibes because it involves them!

Don't waste your time voting down school budgets, 90% of the budget is either State mandated or contractural. If you want to start making a change in the amount your school spends on contractural items, get elected to the school board. Now I know that some of the school business administrators are under-qualified and over-paid, but most of them are justifiably compensated. An average school budget is over 100 million dollars, you need to weed out the bad and keep (and reward) the good.

Don't waste your time voting NO? Nice logic you must be part of the system? Don't you think it would send a message to our politicians if multiple school district budgets are voted down. People like you are the problem let me guess you don't vote because it will not make a differance?

The same disparity of pay exists with the NC police and NYC police. The City employees should just get use to it.!! The taxes are higher in Nassau County The politicians are more corrupt, They dont do anything to stop the madness. The Police in nassau don't even have to wait for their contracts to be expired, They just keep getting their big raises. If Nassau didnt give another raise for 15 years they could still get people to take the job. The same for the teachers and Administrators. Its a shame.

Why not include the list of the 11 superindendents who make over $250,000? I'm sure we'll find William Johnson's name on that list

How to get a job as an administrator on Long Island - just know the right people and/or kiss up to the right people! Superintendent Mucci of North Bellmore School District is the replacement of the esteemed above-mentioned connected Parla. Why doesn't somebody check out what his "education credentials" are, other than being a teacher in 1985? Any qualifications are other than "business degrees"?

Someone has to stop this madness. Living on this Island is tough enough, and I for one will be out of here as soon as I can. The answer is voting NO on every school budget, but we all have to stick together and send a real message. My husband and I work extremely hard for our so called salary, as do many Long Islanders. But our school taxes and everything else on this island are out of control. We have to do something to ease the burden to the taxpayers. Now is the time to do something!
