I can't help but think that if prisoners are out of prison, out from behind bars and barbed wire, why aren't they hooked up with an ankle bracelet so they can be tracked?
Are you an idiot too? Do you have any idea what type of problems that would cause? These people pay the price for their crimes while incarcerated--They shouldn't have to pay when they get out too. Yeah, I know you wouldn't understand,

He was probably out on the "trustee" program. Which can you really trust a convicted criminal.. let's get serious here! where are these peoples heads at.
Another idiot! People are so ignorant. No, some people don't change but there are others who make mistakes and learn from them. I don't understand were your heads are! Are you really this shallow and simple-minded? God forbid if you were to do something. Believe me, you have but you just haven't gotten caught!!! Get some knowledge before you put others down. If they didn't waste so much money locking up pot smokers, maybe they could afford to pay someone to guard a person convicted of HOME INVASION!
Here's the fault with your commment - he was probably invading the home to come up with money to purchase his drugs! I'm sick and tired of people thinking that a little pot isn't a problem. Our prisons are filled up with drug users and that's why there's no space for the "real" thugs.

Please, oh please, my statistic spouting friends, how many of the "real" thugs in prison for home invasion, burglary, etc. also have an underlying drug problem?

No, I don't think I know it all but I definitely know what I'm talking about when it comes to this. If people weren't so close-minded maybe life wouldn't be so complicated.

We should have a program where all the prisoners go to Iraq and serve their sentence doing what our Military does, except most criminals have no brain.

You think EVERYONE is either an idiot or a fool..look when it's your comments that really reflect your intellect.

My comments reflect your intellect. I do NOT think everyone is an idiot or a fool. I do believe that this world hates one another because people are so simple-minded. It just amazes me how people can pre-judge someone and never met them. That alone relects on a person's intellect.....

Yea, that would be a totally intelligent thing to do...give an inmate a gun! Actually a lot of criminals have brains...and many of the ones I see in the prison I work at are very talented individuals. Some of them are wonderful artists, some can do some wonderful woodworking, maintenance, and other jobs that regular citizens can do also. I really wish someone off the street could go work in a prison for a week...just to see what it's like on the inside. Everyone has this perception of what an inmate is like...and you really have NO idea unless you are there everyday!

Maybe he plans on being on the run for 32 years and proving that he can be a productive member of society, then ask the Governor at that time for a pardon???

Preach on brother. Way too much of our tax dollars are being wasted locking up non-violent offenders and then we hear about over crowding. Put non-violent offenders (users of pot/nonprocessed drugs) on house arrest if anything at all and make room for more of the people that are unsafe to have on our streets. You've never seen anyone high on pot picking a fight unless it was over the last piece of pizza.

A note on the comment about giving them guns; I say we need another Australia. Give each violent offender a gun and drop them off on an island somewhere. They're all gonna die by the gun anyway, may as well let them do it somewhere else where we don't have to clean up the mess.

Sounds to me like he's referring to someone who is still incarcerated, but outside the fence on work detail should be wearing an ankle bracelet. I agree.

Yes, but as an Officer who gets them outside the controlled walls and sends them to you, I wish YOU could see how talented they can be on the outside. Then maybe YOU would understand what they can be like in reality. You are working in a controlled environment with them. Come join me in the squad car for a few nights. It might shed new light on what your "inmates" are truly capable of. YOU have NO idea what they are truly like. You control their every move. Why don't YOU move out onto the streets and see them in the uncontrolled environment instead of slamming those who fear for their lives on the outside because of your "talented inmate's" ability to cast fear into the innocent with their crimes.

Actually, in the prison I work at, we don't control their EVERY move. We teach and model good behavior for them. Most of the people in prison have never LEARNED good behavior skills from their parents when growing up. Unless you have walked in their shoes you wouldn't know all the different things they have also been through. This doesn't give them the right to not be law abiding citizens, but when you overhear a Grandmother tell her Grandson that what he did was ok...it was just that he got caught...then I wonder why people commit crimes! Look who they learn from!!! I've seen prisoners who have been on the outside of the walls AFTER being paroled out...mind you some don't learn their lessons and end up right back in prison. However, there are a lot of inmates who WANT to change and who DO change. I have friends who are Police Officers out on the streets...I had an instructor who was also a Police Officer...so I have heard stories from them also.

I know exactly what inmates are like my son is a guard for the State. These inmates are right where they belong. They may be talented but have no brains. They dont deserve anything they have. And the stupid women going to visit them, most of them have 3 or 4 and get all kinds of things. The stupid women dont know about each other. We neen the death penalty back.
