We live in the country down a dirt road. It was a decent dirt road till the county came in and dumped clay without mixing it with sand or anything. So now when vehicles come down it after rain people continues to get vehicles pulled out the ditch constantly. The trash truck got stuck, the mail man did twice in one day. Then there were some residents on the road who got stuck. We called and complained about it and Roger Boatright said there is nothing that can be done till the rain stops. This is bull mess. So when I got ready to leave today I got stuck and run in the ditch. Who pulled me out. Damn sure wasnt him. My children was late for school. One child was excused because it uncalled for. The Elementary child got a tardy and it wasnt excused. I guess next time Ill let the bus pick them up and see if they can get an excused tardy next time we get stuck.I feel as if they would do their job rights then citizens wouldnt have this problem. As far any smart comments.....no Im not moving to the city country livins is better for my family!!!! They ened to fix the darn dirt roads!!!!

I live in Bacon County! There is nothing like backwood dirtroads, if they are graded properly. We complained bout our road 3 months ago because when it rained there was wash outs all the way across the road. We have 2 access routes and both ways was washed out. So we had to stay home from work cause there was no way out without getting a helicopter out here to get us. The next day the road was fixed, well halfway that's the way the county does around here. Two weeks later they put clay on our road and did'nt mix it with sand, we talking nothing but red clay. Yeah it made the road smoother at the time but here comes the rain and guess what we have now, it's like a slip and slide cause that's what you're doing when you go down the road. Praying that you don't get stuck or hit the ditch. Many of us complained to the county comissioners office yesterday just to get told there bringing out sand in the morning. I told them there were four people already hit the ditch but that did'nt matter to them. What really gets me is this endangered our children that rides the bus because the bus could hit the ditch and not only that what if there was an emergency last night the ambulance driver would have had a very hard time getting to anyone on this road, someone could have lost their life due to taking ambulance to long to get there due to unsafe road. What's funny is a county man came out yesterday and he bout hit the ditch himself but still nothing done. Where is the help when you really need someone, sitting behind a desk twiltiling their thumbs.

I agree with it "messy dirtroad." Now that they want to count my children tardy because I took them to school instead of them riding the bus. I got stuck andwe had to wait to get someone to pull me out after playing slip and slide on the clay. So now the bus can come get them unitl they get the roads cleared up. When the bus gets them late they want be tardy. Fed up with the school systems and the comm around here.

what is the difference if the bus took them to school or the parents? If they were late due to you running in the ditch because of slippery road that was reported yesterday, they should be EXCUSED! I guess the school system expected you to fly down the road, do they also not care about the childrens safety? What is wrong with the top notch people in BACON county, they letting their jobs go to their head. I would definetly let them ride the bus, after all there a lot safer beings they are no seat belts on the bus, so if it slides in the ditch the children are more apt to get hurt versus a vehicle, just plain CRAZY!!!

They seem not to care. Even the bus could easily turnover much eaiser than a car. It's accoriding to which ditch they SLide INTO! I think this is so dum to give them a tardy. I guess when the buses get stuck they may be more concerned. Thats whyI dont waste my time to vote because they are all the same. Only care about themselves not others though. FED up!

Our roads are a pitiful sight indeed. RED CLAY does not work for a road.

Folks, Go to the County meetings and voice your concerns. Red/Orange clay is fine for roads as long as it is MIXED with sand. It has been used for years for building pads and road construction.

Go luck to all.:)

It is not mixed with sand on Bacon county roads. Three drops of rain turns my road into a massive red mudslide.

Thats Georgia soil for ya. Deal with it or move to the city. The County does not have the funds to "fix" all the roads in Bacon County. Some people really have nothing better to do then gripe on here, but it can be quite entertaining.:)

It actually has nothing to do with Georgia soil. I can ride down the road that my former county commissioner lives on and it is smooth as glass.

IF its pure clay that will change with moisture and traffic condition. But thats the geotechnical side not the political side.

Yet they have money to fix red lights and side walks. You must not live down a dirt road. I know several occasions when buses have slid off of pure clay roads and a danger to kids.

Yep I do and I deal with it as many have for YEARS. The funds to fix the sidewalks, lights, and asphalt paving are Fed/State funds NOT the town.

Get a 4X4 and you all should be good. sounds like a bunch of OBAMA supporters that think you are entitiled to some things that the county just cannot get to at this moment...your the one that made the decision to live on a frickin dirt road! Peace

Ummmm....... Bacon County needs to hire new people to run the graders too. I too live on a dirt road/clay road and for some reason they want to pull all the sand off the clay. They do not know how to fix roads or pull ditches. They are a joke! No matter how much you call and complain, they are still gonna do what they do best. NOTHING!
