The boys didn't go to jail. The wreck was their fault though. Who ignores emergency lights and sirens? Hope no one pulls that stunt if an ambulance is ever on their way to save the family of those boys. SMH

The ambulance did have the lights and sirens on. Take a look at the picture featured in the Alma times this week. Maybe if the boys weren't drunk they would know more about what was going on around them.

The sirens was never on... And they ambulance didnt turn there lights on until after the wreck... The county knows good and well its there fault.. Just trying to get away with it.. Like always. But trust me we will be fighting it all the way.. They wasnt going to an emergency so no need to go 84mph... Thats why they didnt have lights on cause it wasnt a emergency call

The lights were on and can be proven in multiple business video surveillance cameras. I hope they were speeding seeing how they were going to a call where an 80 year old man had fallen and was later transported to Savannah.

I live less than a quarter of mile from where the wreck happened. My wife was standing at the front door, having a smoke when she heard two big bangs. She told me that someone just had a wreck right down the rd, go check. When I rode down there the emergency lights were Not on, just just head headlights. I had to get pretty close before I was sure that it was in fact an EMS vehicle. Riding up I thought It was an EMS, but I couldnt figure out how the EMS could already been on the scene. Then I realized it was laying on its side. When I got there, a teenage boy came up and I asked was everyone ok, he said yea, as of right now everyone is alright. And he told me a call had done been made.

I asked what happened and he said they were hit in the rear-end when they went to turn off. Now I didn't smell any alcohol on him and did not appear to be overly intoxicated,(One of my first thoughts was DUI) but if he was underage he shouldn't have been drinking period let alone driving. My wife said that she was looking that way when they hit and she didnt see any reflection in the sky from the emergency lights. They lights were very clear from the house when the rest of the cops, and ems got there.

What I "THINK" happened is when the kids hit their breaks to turn off the ems driver thought they were pulling over the right side of the rd to let them by and they veered to the left to pass but the teenagers turn left into a driveway. But I'm not sure, that just what I think by looking at the surroundings there and where the trucks were stopped. But No, i DON'T know for SURE!!!!

If the ems driver is not someone what at fault, then why wasn't the teens arrested? Surely if some teenagers are out drinking and driving and cause and accident let alone with a EMS vehicle that is going to a call.

These idiots blasting the ems drivers say "they weren't even going to a call". Well, where the hell are they getting their info? My friend's papa is lying in the hospital in Savannah RIGHT NOW. He was the one the ems was trying to get to. The Trowell family is running around telling lies on the ems because they don't want to accept responsibility for the fact their kid was drinking and driving. It is what it is. The Trowell kids made a mistake. We all do. It's just that a real man says, "Hey I screwed up" instead of trying to put it off on someone else. Come on kid. Be a man. Owning up to your mistakes is part of being an adult. You will get more respect if you do that instead of telling lies about the ems drivers

The ambulance was going to a call and the person they were going after happens to be connected to my wife's family is and is the grandfather of my best friend!!!! So I never said anything like that I personally think that both parties are at fault to a point.

I called that ambulance and told em the ole girl i been seein on wolf pit needed help cause her right hip blew out when she triedto fart but i was so stuffed up inside her bhole that her hip just started bouncin and sounded like some ole log truck jake breakin before it gave way..... bottom line is that there's more perverted nasty tallywhacker sword fightin and people gettin hurt from extreme bhole sex out here than ems can handle.

Really Folks, Come On

It was an accident, and if either party could have avoided it trust me they would have. I will state the facts for all of you.

Fact 1: The ambulance was responding to a medical emergency.

Fact 2: The ambulance did have its lights on. The surveillance tape at the station shows the ambulance leaving with lights on. The lights where also on in the photos after the crash.(Trust me the last thing the EMT’s where thinking about after the wreck was turning on lights. REALLY!!!)

Fact 3: Neither boy was arrested or taken to jail. A blood test was administered to the driver, who had been drinking. The driver will not be officially charged until after the test results come back.

Fact 4: The boys did not rescue the EMT’s. After law enforcement was on scene the windshield was busted out to get them out. The boys may have helped, but did not rescue anyone.

Fact 5: The Georgia State Patrol report will determine who is at fault.(My opinion,“Not a Fact” is that the driver of the truck will be at fault. Have you ever heard of the law that requires all motorist to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles.

I truly hope that the next time some of you need an ambulance, that they drive 55 miles per hour and avoid passing any slower vehicles. I bet you would be jumping like a gut shot monkey because they did not get to you fast enough.

People are pathetic. I say MAN UP, be responsible for your actions, and stop trying to always blame someone else…..

Georgia law addresses this issue in 40-6-74 O.C.G.A. stating:

“(a) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle or a vehicle belonging to a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency making use of an audible signal and visual signals meeting the requirements of Code Section 40-6-6, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right of way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway clear of any intersection and shall stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle or law enforcement vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.

(b) This Code section shall not operate to relieve the driver of any authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the highway.”

Why is it people tend to leave out (b)???? This is why it is important for the drivers of emergency vehicles to not look upon the lights and sirens as creating a magic bubble that will give them instant right of way and a clear path to their call.

You people need to get a life and see that both sides have fault in this accident not just one. you can state "YOUR" facts all day long but only 4 people know what happened that night and both vehicles will have their on side as to what they know. I hope that one day you or your family are not involved in something like this but if you are and you get to go on and read how everyone knows everything and how everyone is quick to tear others lives and characters apart that you will feel some of how both sides may be feeling. This trash talk doesn't help anyone.

Would the emergency lights have been knocked off after the impact? Because they were not on when I rode up there less than five minutes after it happened. Nor did my wife see any lights or here the sirens while she was smoking. You could easily see an hear the lights and sirens from our front yard. We could hear the other ems vehicles coming from way down the road. I'm not saying anything bad about the EMS driver I dont personally know him, nor do I know the other side. So I'm not trying to lay blame on anyone.

Oh now we got a lawyer on here. Ocga this and ocga that. Honestly i dont give a rat puke who was at fault. Them boys were dumb, or drunk, or high, or listening to lionel richie and lookin deep into each others eyes......and as far as ems ambulance people......they were dumb, drunk or high, or listening to billy joel and piano man, lookin deep into each others eyes.

They were all at fault, they should all just get in a hotel room, fill the bath tub up with root beer, pile in and make love to each other....there needs to be more open love makin. People have to much drama in there life....

I think there is a big cover up and both local newspapers are in on it. I wonder how much the GA State Patrol paid the papers? They just want to sell papers you know. Oh, wait! The News Courier is FREE! They must be getting some sort of kick back to print false stuff about such innocent boys. I saw where Devin's aunt wanted to know why there wasnt a picture of the truck printed. Wonder if she sent one or just expected one to magically appear. If she sent one and it didn't get printed in either one then I must say there has to be a coverup. If no one sent one but the EMS provided one of the ambulance then it must just be that the EMS is smarter. Both papers said pretty much the same thing so looks like the GSP must be liars. Or the county EMTs. Take your pick. Im sure its not either of these fine upstanding families.
