Driver hits three motorcycles, two killed

An accident at the Hog Rock River Rally near Cave In Rock, Illinois claimed the life of two people, and injured at least four others.

We were there for this bike rally. The night before this accident a car accident had occurred and one of the bikers attending the event actually saved the boys life involved in that wreck. Its a shame the Illinois cops can't put up signs noting be prepard to stop or watch for motorcyles near the event. One biker saved a life and 2 others lost theirs all because cars werent paying attention.Two dead and failure to reduce speed. where is the justice this is vehicular manslaughter it was broad daylight that man just didn't care.

We were at hogrock and to hear that something like this has happened, you think in the back of your mind that this could have been you. Im not afraid of riding with my husband on our bike, im mostly scared of the people that are in other vehicles who don't pay attention to anything when they are driving around the bikers. We have had several close calls too, because of others.Its a shame that people had to die because of others stupidity, we will be praying for the families of all involved.

My husband and I were the front bike , we just made the turn . And i looked back back to talk to Dana and a BIG WHITE TRUCK ran over all my friends and killed two other people. People need to be aware of motorcycles and slow down . I want to thank everyone who helped us on the highway,and helped pack up camp and haul our stuff home. You were all wonderful to us thank-you so much .

Does anyone know what hospital Sandy Taylor
was transferred to from Deaconess. They told
me that they immediately flew out to a more
specialized hospital. I am desperately trying
to get in touch with her or her family. She is
not from Noble org.; she is from North West IL.

Good News !!! Sandy Taylor is doing remarkably well
and is a home recooperating. Praise God !!!

This does not lessen the horrible tragedy and
my deepest sympathy and Prayers go out to
all those who are still hospitalized and the
friends and loved ones of those who so tragicly
lost there lives in this senseless accident.

I was at the Rally and have been going for 7 years. I think it's a crime that the State Police are miles down a country road doing "safety checks" on bikers drivers licenses when they could be directing traffic. It's a dangerous turn because it's at the top of a hill, there's loose gravel at times and no one is directing traffic. Even our local county fair has police directing traffic and there aren't 10,000 vehicles there like there is at Hogrock. Instead of doing "safety checks" they should be doing "safety work" and making sure bikes can get turned in quickly and safely without sitting there trapped in traffic at the top of a blind hill.

The man driving the truck should have been ticketed for involuntary man slaughter or vehicular homicide. If it had been the bikers fault, it would have been a different turn out. My husband and I were at Hogrock, when this accident happened, and I stopped to say a prayer. Which everyone should do.

I was at hogrock for 3rd year in a row. My friends & I rode over 100mi. that day and got back about 1:15 P.M. Some people other people got back a while later and told us there was a accident about 1:30 P.M. Such a tragic preventable accident. They definately need to post warning & safety signs . At Tomahawk Fall Ride in Wisconsin they actually drop(lower) speed limit in congested areas during the event.

condt., the story around town today was that she
had passed away suddenly this morning.

Does anyone have information regarding the condt.
of any of the other victims?

I seen and talked to them all last night...
All are doing well! Rick & Dana and Scott & Sandy
They are pretty beat up and sore but will survive by the grace of god. The other victims and there family are in our thoughts and prayer.

It is nice to hear that the others are o.k. (I was glad to see it was posted) This terrible accident cost the lives of Tom and Charity, and that is trumatic in itself. The family and friends are still in shock from this as I am sure there could have been preventive measures taken from local authorities and drivers as well. The question on everyone's mind is how can a truck not see 3 motorcycles. Please keep the families of Tom and Charity in your prayers, as there are children without a father and mother today.
