Not all municipalities cheering bridge repair priority

With all due respect to Richland and other communities who will lose or delay projects, I'd be more worried about a bridge collapse somewhere than how long it take to get through an intersection.

Quakertonians like to complain. Yes it is a disappointment but saftey has to overrule convenience.

Can these people be any more short-sighted? We live in such a me, me, me world.

Okay...so if Richland had its way, they could get their road projects done first, and when the bridge collapses and someone gets killed, they would blame the state for not fixing it.
Sounds like a bunch of "me first" children throwing tantrums. |

Perhaps we residents of Upper Bucks wouldn't be stuck between a rock and a hard place if the Richland powers-that- be had not allowed so much development in the first place. When I tell folks what Richland Township and the 309 corridor looked like in the 1950s, their jaws drop in disbelief.

Yeah you can say that about Lower Bucks County as well. |

Bridge repair and assesment continues to be a very important topic. Especially now that different technologies such as GPR are evolving and becomming more and more popular.

Bridge repair should always be a priority!

The bridge repair issue is a knee-jerk reaction to the I-35 bridge collapse last year. Richland had state funding available since 2000--SEVEN years before the priorities shifted toward bridge repair. There's even a picture of Orloff, Tamburri, and Keller holding the mock check from the state for the project in the meeting room at the township building!
Now that they've been caught with their pants down, because they've been procrastinating about it, they want to blame the state at the 11th hour! They had SEVEN years to get the project underway, now because of Orloff's 'leadership,' we're going to have to put up with afternoon gridlock for FOUR more years. Careful for what you vote for, you might just get it! |
|
|
Hmmm- Orloff again? Did he make it rain today, too? Isn't he still just one of three elected supervisors in Richland and not a member of Quakertown's council? The state announced the proposal, which seeks to streamline traffic signals on Route 309, California Road and Main Street, to keep traffic flowing will get $1.25 million next year for utility work, but won't get the remaining $2 million until three years later. It's been planned since 2000 and the two communities have spent $141,000 on engineering; that was the grant that was won by Richland and the check paid for the engineering. Only PennDOT can implement the changes. Is Orloff responsible for the China quake, too?

|
Yes, Orloff was one of three R supes (O, K, & T) in 2000; he is one of three now, but he and Staats hold the majority. NOTHING has been done since 2000. You mean it takes EIGHT years to get something like this to happen? I don't think so. Face it, he got caught with his pants down and now they are doing some backpedaling to cover it up. Maybe Mr. Orloff should concentrate on running his township and spend less time interfering with QCSD. Enjoy gridlock for four more years. |

Most of the work will occur within Quakertown borders. Any complaints about QT Borough Council of the last eight years? Are the council members non-players in the governance of the borough? Does Orloff control QT Council?
PennDot is doing the "backpedaling" and has been caught "with their pants down" because, as the lead article explains, they have put off our project and have also not been maintaining bridges and are now moving money around and changing priorities. Richland and Quakertown priorities are with traffic improvement: PennDOT's priorities are with making bridges and other infrastructure safer. Aren't you one of the bloggers who opposed the round-about and the extension of Station Road to 309 and are now opposing the extension of RR Drive? What traffic improvements have you supported? Stevens and Murphy offered NO suggestions for improving traffic flow. They lost because of a sorry lack of vision. They claimed they would end development and that would solve traffic problems; ignoring the reality that surrounding areas will continue to cause local traffic to grow. Orloff offered an extensive road plan on his website during the past campaign and won on the merits of his platform and on his record. Blaming him for not being able to single-handedly move PennDot to implement traffic light changes along the 309/313 corridor is beyond credulity. Local governments can request action from the state but cannot force them to act. Has Quakertown Borough Council acted on this important local issue or is Orloff expected to do everything by himself? |

You say "Most of the work will occur within Quakertown borders," but where have all the new traffic lights been installed, and all the 'big box' development happened: Richland.
I'm sorry, but Orloff has been spending too much time scheming against QCSD when he should be concentrating on the township he was elected to govern! You also speak of credulity; Orloff signed a petition to keep Wal Mart out of Richland, but has no problem with other retail development. I am not speaking against the development persay, but the hypocrisy of Orloff's actions. As for RR Drive, it's there to benefit our local gossip columnist/child molester, Woldow. Maybe it should be renamed Woldow Drive? |

Hmm"You say "Most of the work will occur within Quakertown borders," but where have all the new traffic lights been installed, and all the 'big box' development happened: Richland."
-Because the QT part of the 313-663-309 corridor was completely developed. New development occurs where it is possible. The fact remains that most work will be done by PennDot in QT. So why aren't you complaining about inaction on QT Borough Council's part? Hmmm"I'm sorry, but Orloff has been spending too much time scheming against QCSD when he should be concentrating on the township he was elected to govern!" -And Zowniriw has done nothing for 5 years and Staats and Orloff's opponents had nothing to offer the electorate. Orloff is working for the property owners in RT who pay school taxes- they voted him in and are his constituents. He ran on a platform to keep tax increases reasonable. The voters agreed with his platform. Hmm"You also speak of credulity; Orloff signed a petition to keep Wal Mart out of Richland, but has no problem with other retail development. I am not speaking against the development per say, but the hypocrisy of Orloff's actions." -As a private citizen, Orloff can protest anything. As a supervisor he must allow anything that is legal. Kline was the local candidate who opposed Wal-Mart as a career choice; even testifying against a proposed Wal-Mart in another neighboring municipality. Hmmm"As for RR Drive, it's there to benefit our local gossip columnist/child molester, Woldow. Maybe it should be renamed Woldow Drive?" -If you don't like it, blame the QCSD Board members who chose the route and did not purchase the adjoining, soon to be developed property at a discount when Woldow offered it to the taxpayers. Your personal quest for revenge against Woldow gets in the way of rational thought. -Back to Bridge Repairs:Has anyone noticed the bridge on 313 south of Paletown Road over the swamp? The crumbling stone certainly should give motorists reason to hope for local bridge improvements. |

You must buy Kool-Aid by the truckload! |
|
Facts are such a nuisance, aren't they? They really interfere with preconceived notions and prejudices. |
|
Like I said, Kool-Aid induced dimensia. |
|
-The extra signals installed in Richland have drastically amplified the traffic congestion. -How can Z do anything with O & S outvoting him on anything? Does the cyanide alter the taste of the Kool-Aid? -Orloff is a hypocrite then! Kline has had the same position ever since Walmart was invited into Richland. -Woldow NEEDED the age-qualified overlay district, and Orloff stated at a BOS meeting that it was passed "with a specific project in mind." Woldow: "Rick, I need you to make my land age-qualified, in return I'll trash anyone who you don't like in my column each week!". Orloff: "Sounds good to me <insert evil laughter>" -I'm not out for revenge, unlike Orloff. I just want to clean up the riff-raff in this town! |
|
|
Did Zowniriw oppose the traffic lights? It's not in the township meeting minutes.
Woldow sold his property to the QCSD at a reduced bargain rate and offered them the land he later sold for much more at the same reduced rate. The QCSD turned turned him down. The QCSD Board chose to locate there and chose the configuration of the road and chose to not purchase the additiional property at a reduced rate. The choices of the QCSD Board had nothing to do with Orloff. When you write of riff-raff are you referring to supervisor Zowniriw who was found guilty twice? Perhaps he will relocate again to a community that will better suit his family after he is done his term. |
