I'm sure he did take it up with the neighbor... and the police... and the animal shelter.... to no avail.
While poisoning the cats is not an acceptable solution, this man felt he had no other way out.
The "owner" of the cats is partly to blame... If you allow your animals to roam freely and they become a nusiance to others and damage property, don't complain when a frrustrated person takes matters into his own hands.
Keep your pets safe... INDOORS!!!

Although 40 cats is way overboard, poisoning cats is not an answer. I also agree that he would probably not get any relief from police or the owner.

He could have put his garbage bags in a can with a lid. We have raccoons and this is necessary as well.

Let's face it. He took the easy way out. A couple of good, heavy duty Rubbermaid cans with lids would have set him back $40. He kills seven cats. What he is saying is that a cat's life isn't worth more than about $5.71.

I disagree with his math.

What I would like to know, is, how can you get caught poisioning a cat,(or a dog)?
I would think that if someone was going to "take out" a neighbor's cat, they would do it in such a manner that it could not be proven.
The other thing that surprises me is that he could be sentenced to five years...for killing a cat or two? Seems very excessive to me. I think I could find stories of human killings where the guilty party served less time. Something seems out of whack here, when we value an animal's life more than a human's.

Good for him! I don't blame him at all. His neighbor has a "farm" of cats and could care less about anyone else's property and is quite selfish.

"...police and humane officers didn't help him..."

I know his pain. I used to have cats that used my plant beds as a litter box and would constantly use my yard as their own "toilet." I called the Humane Society, Dog Catcher (Humane Society's idea), police, and NO ONE would help. I explained that I am VERY allergic to cats, and all the Humane Society told me was to capture them and bring them in. I told them that if I did, the cat would be in my trunk. Needless to say, they told me NOT to do that or charges would be filed. Yet, they couldn't offer any ideas when I said that if the cat would be inside the car with me, it would be detrimental to my health.

For some odd reason, people get up in arms when a person kills a cat. Yet, when a person suffers ill health due to a cat, no one cares. For that I say, GIVE THEM ANTIFREEZE!

But, how does a garbage can prevent a cat from using your flower bed as a litter box?

Animals who are not kept on their own property should be "taken care of"!! I don't blame the guy. I would've done the same thing. 40 cats is OUTRAGEOUS!!!

That's NASTY!!!!! No one should live with that many cats. That house must stink something terrible, ill. I don't blame the neighbor I wouldn't want those nasty a$& cats always around my house either and if no one else was going to do something I was, just like this guy did, I thought it was funny. Keep those filthy nasty a$& cats from his house, and the animal police need to go to that house and remove all those cats and the owner!!!! LOL

I am amazed at the heartless comments from the low-life community. "Amused Crack-Head" knows the "pain" of having cats in his flower bed?? You won't know what pain is until you mess with MY family, and my pets are included. Put your f-ing garbage in a can, for chrissake! Put some mothballs in your flowerbed! Why on earth would anyone do something that sick, because they're annoyed? Do you have any idea of the prolonged, extreme agony these creatures suffered? Would you want someone to do that to you, your family, YOUR pets? You couldn't think of a better solution? Are you that stupid? Or just born without conscience. Five years is not enough. I'd LOVE to see at least five years stick, maybe word would get around that it's not a good idea to take out your frustrations on innocent creatures. Yeah, they are innocent. That's what cats do. And dogs. They don't go to school to learn how to think like humans. It would be nice to have pets kept indoors but that don't happen in the real world. Wild animals get into trash too. Because they smell it, they're attracted to it, they have no idea what mean, SICK humans are capable of. Go to hell, Snyder.
