As I understand it, Mr. PArks essentially 'owns the streets" blocked off for musikfest these 10 days. Apprently he pays for the maintenance, police salaries, and the insurance for those days. Should he not be held liable for this under age drinking?

Great....fenced off..so people that loves the fest have to fork up more money...like the economy isn't bad enough. Be for real.
It will be fenced off in the future , do you think Jeff Parks and Arts Quest are not going to team up with the SandsBethWorks to make and take even more money , you are sadly mistaken.
Enjoy it the way it is now because soon it will be moved to the old Bethlehem Steel land.
Money is the word.

Will Jeff Parks and the Musikfest be fine or will their temporary beverage liscence be revoked for serving minors at their event?
You people are complete FOOLS. There is noting in the article that says anything about the girls being served by anyone that has anything to do with Musikfest.

That's because the Morning call is a sponsor of the Fest , The Morning call can't make money , they may be stupid but they are not crazy to indite themselves.

Why are teens out after midnight? Do the parents know if this? If not, they need to know where their kids are at odd hours on a Monday night.
Plus, it was not Musikfests fault these girls got drunk, It is over at 10:00. Musikfest shuts down and police on hours clear the streets at this time.
I'm sure they didn't get the beer from Musikfest, but used it as an outlet (excuse) to drink.
Also, does Bethlehem have a curfew? If so, they should be cited. I live in a town where there is a curfew and Monday nights it is like 9 or 10:00 at night. No excuses!
Please. They are 16 and 17, summer vacation, musikfest going on. WHY should they be in by 10? It's SUMMER VACATION??? They're nor babies. If they do stupid crap like get drunk then that's their own fault and they should be punished, but you can't treat 16 and 17 years olds like babies. They're not grownups, BUT they are getting there.

I have to disagree. It used to be part of growing up, but society has changed. These young girls are very lucky that they weren't assaulted while they were intoxicated.

I can almost guarantee that these girls supplied their own beverages. I don't see how they could have been served at Musikfest with all the ID checks and security. It's very easy to take your own alcohol to Musikfest, especially if you already own a Musikfest mug.

I'm with you. I love musikfest, but hate all the drinking that goes on there. I like to take the bus from Martin Towers, it's great. The ride home is not so great at 9pm when a handful of people on the bus are throwing up in their beer cups. I actually don't even go anymore. Parking on the avenues just means stepping over the throw up to get to your car.

Musikfest was once about good music and good food. Now it's whatever acts don't cost much to get in, as much as can be gouged for food and a drunken party. Maybe Parks ought to move it out of Bethlehem so that it can be replaced with what it was. It's not even fun any more and many local folks stay away.

I do not think this has anything to do with politics. It is in the best interest of the Public to have this Festival modified. It's become too big. It should be fenced off.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....If they fence it off
then they will have a reason to charge an admission fee...just like sportsfest over at Ceader Beach...that use to be free...now you have to pay to go...that is why alot of people have stopped going...

There is so much boozing that goes on at the FEST that the cops look the other way. After all it's all about the money. BUT, the Fire Idiots are on the prowl, so don't block the isles while you teenagers are getting plastered.

UM, the girl was PASSED OUT...HER friend was with her. Did you ever think that maybe they had to be home at a certain time and just didn't go? I never heard a 9:00pm town curfew during an event.
Thank God the worst thing that happend was a fine and some BARFING!
