Attorneys fees are not recoverable under pa law for gifted education..Federal law does not cover gifted education. District can't sue for attorney fees spent in the case of J.Z. A good lawyer will have suit tossed because J.Z. is included in complaint.

Um, since her first name is DIANE, I'm guessing that she married someone who is foreign. Just a hunch. You should really try it some time.

Sadly, the world is full of 'special' people with the expectation of entitlement. That's a personal shortcoming, not a reason to waste school district funding. I hope the Bethlehem School District is successful.

Did you know that many Asians take American first names when they immigrate? This is very common and could easily be the case here...

Are her children really that gifted???? I always found that the parents of the "gifted" became totally obnoxious! I remember an ex friend whose son was so gifted he could not read a regular dial clock ! He could only do digital! Duh?????

Wow... this parent is exploiting my tax dollars so that her so called gifted kids can get a free ride to Moravian Academy!!! Outrageous. Perhaps Ms. Zhou should do like the rest of America when its not happy with the public school, pay and send your kid to private school. Trying to claim a learning disability because the kid is too smart is a sham and fraud. The District should stop this and recoup my tax dollars!

whoa, whoa, whoa, why would the school district be responsible for paying for her children to go to a private school? did i miss something here? if her children are so gifted are there scholarships and grants that she could apply for? its bad enough i dont have kids and i still have to pay school tax why shoule people pay even more for these waste of time suits she is filing and to pay for her kids to get a private education that there doesnt seem to be any proof that they deserve.

I'm getting sick and tired of hearing about all these people who come to this Country and demand special treatment! Who in the H@LL do they think they are? It's time to start weeding out the trouble makers and kick them out of our homeland!!!

Instead of lawsuits against parents of gifted children, I think BASD should focus on really having a high quality gifted curriculum that also includes individualized plans, specialists with ability to teach and mentor gifted children and access to support classes and experiences that meet individualized gifted plans as mandated by Pennsylvania law whether or not this includes sending children to classes at community college, or other such distribution points of education that cannot be delivered by BASD.

I went to BASD after transfering from ASD. ASD in the early 1980s had an incredible gifted program and BASD was crap. It seems after 25 years it still is crap.

Just one more reason to not let the door hit you in the ass, Joe Lewis.

Clean up BASD and implement a real gifted education system that meets Pennsylvania law requirement.

Gifted program? Do they mean the Easter bunny comes to school and hands out gifts, or Santa visits with the Easter Bunny, what about the tooth fairy? Put her in the mix too. That way every kid will get a gift, and then we can consider them gifted!

You all have no idea how many opportunistic parents are bringing school districts to court around the state and winning large amounts of money. That money comes from us, the taxpayers. There may be some legitimacy in some cases, but in many cases the parents see $$$.

If she had to perform this circus act to get a free ride to Moravian I'm pretty sure she can't afford an attorney to defend this case.

she could have just taken the name Diane so that people would be able to pronounce it. Just a hunch.

Good for them. I hope they nail this woman. I love these parents who think their kids are so gifted. All the "gifted" kids I knew in school were all weirdos and haven;t amounted to much in life anyway!

The two opposing forces in this matter seem to be the teachers union and politicians.
Opposing force#1- if the union were able to police itself some of the tenured deadbeats would be gone and there would be room for quality educators to reach gifted students.
Opposing force#2- if some of these deadbeats had an education they would have had to learn more than to take money from opposing force#1 and not pass legislation that is counter-productive.
As for the mother and children involved in this matter there also seems to be a contradiction. The children, or at least one of them, are gifted and learning disabled.
Refer to opposing force#2 for allowing this to exist.
