If it's in God's name, crazies do anything

When the Kansas crazies landed in the Lehigh Valley in 2002, it was hard to believe anybody could take them seriously. Full Story

A Person who could help. Why would I call out to a deity which allowed me to be IN that position to begin with?

'God' is not a name, it's a job description.

No, Mr. Wrong, I am not saying that everyone who attends a church is crazy. However, there are plenty of people who exploit religion for personal and political gain.(Jimmy Swagart and James Baker come to mind.)
Are you arguing that there are no crazy religious people?

LOVE the thought for the day. Made me laugh. Thanks.

I agree that Paul Carpenter ought to spend some time hanging out with the antichoicers. Some of them have taken up their cause on Union Blvd playing with baby dolls and big girl posters with gory pictures standing in the streets. Others remain north of the clinic yelling verbal assaults (calling volunteers murderers or killers), telling outright lies to patients (like you will be dead within a year if you go inside or you'll regret this for the rest of your life or abortion causes breast cancer).
I also agree that, as Carpenter has written, if it's in God's name it gives some license to do or say whatever crazy thing they want.
Roe v Wade has completely backfired on the Womens' Rights cause; there was almost always a way for a woman or girl to get a legal abortion based on a medical recommendation. Roe has given a voice to these Antis who are nothing more than common street criminals, a nationwide gang of violent hoodlums, terrorists to the max. The U.S. theocracy wants it this ways.

One can make a case against a strategy of relying on court decisions over legislative measures or popular votes, but your first statement needs support. I was under the impression - and correct me if I'm wrong - that only about 1/3 of the states had liberalized or repealed abortion laws before Roe was decided in 1973. Most states still criminalized abortion even under a physician's care.

I once heard a crazie name JC try to explain how Foot ball is symbolic of homosexual marriage. it went something like this. The quarterback (who he says is the best looking guy on the team... wonder how he knows this) Take the foot ball which represents the homosexual child and tries to get it into the end zone which represents the God fearing christian american home. I had a good laugh it was simple enough for some non sporty person like me could understand and figure out his insanity.

Then I'm not going to be calling out to anyone, I'm going to be assuming the crash position and trying to maintain my senses so that I might actually be able to survive once we hit. At that point even if I or others were to "call out" that doesn't mean we are talking to your concept of your deity. There is more than one.

Well I am not normal and I tend to beleive that all religions worship the same God. We were just taught different rules and different names. You wont find any church that teaches that.

Some religions hold more than one god, they would disagree with you.

Well true Christians are not of man's religion and tell you the truth of the One True Living God. Only Jesus can save.

By those standards there are no true Christians, ALL religion is invented by Man, no animal has a religion.

Well, I would call out so that other people could be alerted to my condition so they could offer help. Of course, I would also try to help myself. I don't see how calling out to an imaginary deity would help at all.

Then what's the point of calling out at all? I would do what I could to survive (crash position, etc) and hope the pilot could make survival more likely. I don't see how calling out to Yahweh, Zeus, or Ahura Mazda would be of any help whatsoever.

Calling out AFTER you hit would make more sense, it would help if someone were searching through the wreckage for survivors. The fact remains that if there are beings "on the other side" and we do cross over, they may see it as doing us a favor to NOT help us so that we too may cross over and share their plane of existence.

Well maybe calling out to whatever God would make you at peace before you died.

Well go for it, if it makes you feel good. It doesn't prove or disprove the existence of any gods to shout out.

Won't matter anyway. You'll just be dead in a moment. Buh-bye!
