Yet the CEO still makes in the neighborhood of $1.5 Mllion.

If they were serious about cutting costs, they would start there.

The CEO does not have to worry about putting food on the table with his salary. Yet us WORKERS doing all the HARD work for the hospital do!! Those of us that have been there a LONG time are feeling it the most!! Face it we are the MOST under paid healthcare workers in the area yet we are the largest employer in the area. Do you not see something wrong with that picture??

$1.5 million is a drop in the bucket compared to the collective salary of all employees underneath the CEO. Any cut to CEO pay would only be a symbolic gesture at best. It would be like a person on a diet going to McDonalds and ordering a Big Mac, large fry, and a large diet coke.

If it's that bad and you feel underpaid, why haven't you left and found a job elsewhere since you obviously feel your job skills are in demand and require a higher rate of pay?

What exactly should the teachers 'learn' from a bunch of sheeple who rolled over and played dead? Not to stand up for what they believe they are worth? To accept anything that is forced on them using the economy as an excuse?
Maybe Pat can explain why healthcare costs increase an average of 10 percent a year yet there is no money for the people who are on the frontlines in giving this healthcare.

Good point about the teachers sucking up for a year or two. I find it hard to believe, however, that LVH workers are underpaid.

You will never see teachers accepting cuts in pay. they are so deep into their union that they would die before giving in and doing the right thing. Even though their results in educating our children are dismal at best, they feel they are worth more and more each and every year. If they were on a performance based plan, most of them would get less than 1% raises each year.

To nopaluvr:
Health care costs are going up because:
1. technology is getting more expensive and complex
2. the population is aging
3. pharmaceuticals have a strong lobby
4. the doctors are trying desperately to protect themselves against the trial lawyers
5. the insurance companies are raping the system and raking in the dough!

After all that, there is precious little money left to pay health care providers. Yet, they continue to do their work. It appears that they find some meaning in their calling, unlike the greedy teachers.
