My son attended ABS (now LVC).

I can say, how they got him to attend, at least, boarded on fraud. Good thing I keep excellent records, and when I later confronted them with the facts, they refunded all his money. They never provided any of the services they promised during their recruitment.

It was also nearly impossible to drop out. My son dropped out, and ABS simply kept taking out more loans in his name, and the "bank" just kept sending the money requested by ABS directly to ABS. My son wasn't involved at all, and we found it impossible to stop. The "bank" told us that as long as ABS requested more money, they will gladly send it, and add it to my son's load balance. If we wanted it stopped, we had to get ABS to stop asking the "bank" for ever more money.

Their "used car salesman" style of recruiters are excellent in deception and manipulation.

Not every young person has an active parent, standing behind them, and looking out for predators like this.

Get out of that school fast. All I have heard is bad things about from admissions to graduation.
You would do much better going to a community college and then a state college. If you continue going to that you will end up so much in debt from Student loans that you will have no future. The majority of the people that graduate from that school end up with minium wage jobs and cannot pay off their loans, let alone buy a house or pay rent.

Everyone please file complaints with PA Attorny General. Go to http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/complaints.asp... and file a consumer complaint against LVC if we all scream at the same time we will be heard.
I filled a complaint and its being looked into. I also had a few friends who i met after i graduated that are going through the same thing. Now they are filing complaints. I will post any outcome when i get any informaion back. The Private loans are a Scam

What a mistake. I'm probably close to $50K in debt when figuring in the interest. I had no idea that these Sallie Mae/Stillwater loans were privatized and couldn't be re-financed/consolidated. If I had know this, I would have figured out some other way to fund my education, or gone somewhere else altogether. Screw the BBB, you'll have the loans paid off before you get through their bureaucratic nonsense. Myself and a friend of mine have submitted letters to the PA State Attorney General and we're hoping to get some sort of action that way. I encourage all of you that have posted and those of you that read this to do the same if you feel as though this travesty of financial injustice is affecting you as well:
http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/
Go to the "consumer" button on the top left, and select "consumer complaints". You can then file a complaint using their online form. If anough people do this, we just might be able to get a class-action suit started.

I, unfortunatly, attended ABS. What a joke that place is! I am going to be paying back my student loans till the end of time. And for what? I never was able to get gainful employment in my field of study. The best I could get was "entry level" work, which by the way I could have got into without their "wonderful education" (please note sarcasm)and high interest loans.$18,000 and all I recieved was a "specialized diploma". If that is not enough, a few weeks after I graduated someone from there had the nerve to call and ask if I would come back for 6 more months to obtain their new "Associate Degree" for an extra $10,000!!! If anyone reading this is thinking of attending this money sucking, non educating facility, PLEASE DON'T!!!

UPDATE im still waiting for Attorney General but i also contacted a Private Lawyer who doesnít get any money unless i win. Needless to say after i explained what happened he took the case. Those loans are a BIG SCAM. Also on a side note make sure to mention since ABS is reported in newspapers as just giving out degrees to make there numbers look good. It is no wonder there job placement sucks @ss. So now i have a degree that business's wont even take seriously.

Our daughter is scheduled to start at LV in July. Over the past week we have been reading many negative comments about this school. We have called the school and expressed our concerns. they assured us that all of the negativity is bogus. We are so confused at this point we don't know where to turn. She is so very disappointed, my heart is broken for her. Aren't there any people out there that have had a good experience at this school?
I think you should discourage your daughter from going to this school and steer her towards a real college.

Their idea of job assistance is pathetic. All they seem to do is get local buissness that are retail, customer service, or food industry related for its graduates. I'm ready, willing and able to join in class action suit ober the schools broken promises that they will help their graduates find a job in the field they were trained for. I could'nt even get entry level types of jobs in the Visual communications industry that I trained for.

let me guess they arranged an interview at the local Blockbuster because of your degree...

I also agree that the teachers were good and I did learn; however, when I went to transfer, I repeated a lot of courses. I am now in a $35,000 debt. Their job assistance program? Please, non existent. Referrals were given to work at a local real estate office and because the office manager knew the placement rep! It is crazy. I didnt know anything bad about the school before starting and I wish I did. You can email me info at shldhvkwnbtr06@aol.com

o "real" colleges don't accept their credits
o This is a for-profit business which has no interest in the career success of graduates, it's all about money.
o They overcharge for tuition and their loans are scandalous
o Their training qualifies their average grad to do squat.
o They are likely to be put out of business shortly.
o LCCC, NACC, RACC and other community colleges have great programs, successful grads and are far, far cheaper. Many folks go on to Kutztown and other colleges and do well.

Your money and time would have been better spent taking courses at one of the accredited community colleges, or at PSU.

Trade schools are notorious for promising much, and delivering very little except a high interst loan you'll be forever paying off.

I too was a sucker for their lies...Tuition was suppose to be just as much as the community college plus the 2500 for the crappy ass laptop, but after graduation I received my loan portfolio for all loans and grants and it costed me over 30,000 for an associates degree - they charged me an outrageous price per credit, somewhere around 981.00/ credit. Their financial aid has their heads up their asses! They don't know what they are doing...Long story, tell ya later. But if there is something I can sign to get my name on the investigation list for this so called "college" where do I sign...This summer (July 2008) will be 3 years since I graduated LVC and I have not held one accounting position yet. The department that they call career services shouldn't be called by that name, it should be lying shacks of shits. Their "career services" department provided no help with job placement, oh wait I USED to get one email every 3 months containing ONE JOB, that had nothing to do with my major, Accounting. No companies will hire me because of the name on the degree, LEHIGH VALLEY COLLEGE, and all the front page stories that have read about them. So in turn I'm paying $22,000 for a piece of paper with my name on it. I want them taken down and off the "choices for colleges" list. Can someone please help?!?! Does anyone know how I can get my name on that class action lawsuit againist LVC? My email is chibearsnatlbraves@yahoo.com, please someone have some good news for me!

Andrew, if you learned anything about accounting, try and retake courses in your local community college and get a real associates degree. That's about all I can suggest.
