And no truck involved - go figure.
The cars all think they're driving for NASCAR through there.

I don't like 33 at all.....
I can't believe the number of accidents in the past few days.....

People have to learn to slow down - but everyone is in a hurry these days!! Is it really worth attempting to be on time......

I do send my condolences to these families....

how about some safety blitzes? Isn't there a state police barracks right off 33?

It was yet another crossover accident. Some northbound car went across that narrow 5-foot wide median and hit a southbound car, killing the poor girl in the southbound car. She had no chance. There should be a median barrier there. Maybe after another half-dozen fatalities PennDot will allocate some money.

The speed limit is 55 and like you said most are doing 70 or better, with s cell phone in the ear and a cup of coffee or butt in the other..
If people would use cruse control and set it at 60 they would all make good time and also leave the house a little earlier..
I drive that road weekly and set it on 60 and everybody passes you like your standing still..Sometime I pass them when the State police have them pulled over..
Yes I get there safely!!!!!

You mean no one is blaming a tractor trailer for this accident. Boy, jeez that's unusual. See!! car's/SUV's do cause a lot of the accidents.

There have been numerous crossover fatalities in NJ on 78 - mant tractor trailer related. Within the past several years, NJ has installed guardrails in several stretches, and it has saved countless lives.

I have been traveling 33 for nearly 22 years to commute to Allentown to my job. In the past 5 to 7 years, the traffic has become wild. People are speeding upwards to 90-95 MPH. At times in a double lane of fast moving traffic, a driver is so close behind my vehicle that I cannot see their headlights. It used to be a pleasureable early AM commute, but now it is very much a danger zone. A poor innocent girl was killed this AM, so what is it going to take before people will be honest enough with the PA Speed Limit law on that portion of 33 and obey the posted 55 MPH? I feel very badly for that familly of the victim. People need to wake up before more happens. This accident happened only a few hundred yards above the cyanide truck spill over the weekend. What does that tell us? PEOPLE NEED TO SLOW DOWN and leave their homes earlier to meet their deadline.

Can I ask you a question? Were you in the left hand lane?

It's a common type of accident on that stretch of road, and I was looking at the front-end damage on the cars. I also saw some news reports on other sites that said a north-bound car crossed into the south-bound lanes and hit the girl, killing her.

A shame when people drive like idiots anymore. Probably either tale gating or cutting off other cars. New York and New Jersey people are more known for this because they do not respect others.

It doesn' matter if you are in the left or right. Also, when in the left, you can only go as fast as the car in front of you.

There is no reason to drive up on someone's arse. It doesn't give you the room to react should something happen in front of the car you are tailgating.

I tap my breaks when someone rides my arse, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But if there are cars in front and I can't go any faster...too bad. If I have to slam on my breaks, then I guess the arse rider will have no front end after that!

How sad. I also drive Route 33 every single day. I am amazed how fast & dangerous people drive. I understand the State Police are busy & should not babysit drivers but something needs to be done. God Bless the families & drivers involved.

I heard a young woman lost her life.
I know someone that witnessed the accident and (this is 3rd hand info) but he said that a car in front of him was getting on Rt33 and pulled right out without hesitating and caused the 4 car accident.
VERY SAD! God Bless all involved.

Actually....it DOES matter. While there are laws against speeding, there also exist rules to "stay right except to pass". I commute on 22 and 33 every morning. The only thing worse than those who "fly by" doing 90 are those who sit in the left lane doing 60. I travel at a safe, attentive 75-80 mph. I average almost 28,000 miles of driving per year and have NEVER had an accident in my life related to speed on an interstate. I don't blather on the phone, eat a seven course meal, read, text, or engage in other distractions. If traffic is heavy, I slow down. One only has to travel outside of our country to see how ridiculous our licensing laws and antiquated highway infrastructure really are.

When we open our seasonal home I commute somedays from Marshalls creek to Nazareth. I know the speed limit goes 65 MPH to 55MPH then back to 65. But people never slow down to the 55. I mean who am I kidding like anyone does 55MPH???
When I have my old car 4 cylinder 1995 Eclipse - I can't do much over 55MPH anymore, I mean it can but steering wheel shakes and it just scares me. The car is safe, but its small and my point is I'm more scared at the people that are flipping me off for driving too slow - which I never linger in the left lane and I do speed limit but sometimes its not good enough - so my rage kicks in and I flip you off!!

The 4 lane causeway that I take to and from work is going to build a divider in the middle. How did they pay for it? Speed traps left and right for about a month.

Effect - People still speed on the causeway, but it is not nearly as bad as it was.
