Regardless of what is, or what isn't the opinion of the masses, parents need to start taking an active roll in the lives of their children. Myspace accounts can be set to private where only certain people (friends and family) who are granted admission by the person whose account it is, can send messages to the account holder. Parents need to start being parents and monitor their childrens online activity. I am not condoning these sex offenders having access to these sites, but if parents took an active roll and monitored their children, the kids would not become prey to these people.
