House fire in Grand Rapids

Firefighters are battling a blaze at a single unit residential home in Grand Rapids.

I was driving in that area at that time. I saw the gray/black smoke in the sky and wondered what it was. I had to take the detour on Franklin street to bypass Hall/Grandville Ave construction., and it was absolute chaos! It was rush hour, a semi-truck was blocking the on-ramp to 131 from Franklin so no one could turn, and the fire trucks, police and ambulances are trying to get to Caulfield street to assist with this fire. This construction all in one place is causing havoc in this city for sure.

I don't believe I have ever seen anything so scary in my lifetime. I saw the fire burning the home and the black smoke rising from it. I'm very thankful no one was injured or killed in that fire. Hats off to all the police, rescue personnel, firefighters and ambulance drivers who came to help.

Single family unit around that area? You've got to be kidding me. Maybe just one family was listed as living there, but more than likely 8-12 living in the home. Check all the mail and other records. Those homes around there are way over filled with people. A lot of people getting drunk and falling asleep with a cigarette is what the fire dept told me happens a lot. The sad part is, many times the fire dept lists the cause as accidental, when it's really negligence on their part. The " accidental" ruling allows insurance to pay off the claim without any hassles.

Edward does not matter what caused the fire or how many lived there that was someone's home and they lost everything you are just COLD and UNCARING person!!!!!!!!!!
