Police investigating Allendale home invasions

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department is investigating a string of home invasions and thefts from cars in Allendale Township. via WZZM

These are not the times when you need to be leaving your garage door opener in an unlocked car outside of the garage! You might as well have a big neon sign pointing to you house saying " My doors are unlocked and I have lots of goods stuff for the taking!" LOCK YOUR DOORS!!!

when we moved to hastings, unlocked cars were ALWAYS broken into. the police said "it's simple. lock up" but, many don't. it's such a shame! why has it come to this? what's in the future?!!

Leaving doors unlocked I feel is what we are all used to in these "smaller towns" but just like everything else, times have changed.......and thus, so must we!!!

The thief does NOT have to "break into" an unlocked car. It's already open!

Something I learned in Criminal Law. When "breaking and entering" one does not have to damage property to break in. Any force, turning a door knob for instance, used to obtain access by an unauthorized person is a break in. Just clarifying.
