Three of us saw the mountain lion around noon on December 24th in Plano at the corner of Russell Creek Drive and Cardiff Circle. No question of identification.

I think what yall are seeing is a bobcat. Think about it. They are still arround. Why would they all of a sudden appear here in collin county. Never any talk of seeing one in other nearby counties. I think people that know nothing about wildlife and the outdoors are soon to call it what people mention it could be. RUMORS

To say mountain lions haven't been spotted in nearby counties is completely false. While, "rare",(I use "" because most sightings never get reported to authorities) almost every county in Texas has reported sightings of mountain lions.
They are quite common near Cedar Hill and the the entire Desoto, Duncanville, Lancaster area. Newly developed Collin County has ALWAYS had them, but being that their range is often 25 miles... per DAY, it's only been in recent years that they are spotted by humans. Tarrant county also has many sightings, as does Denton County. I grew up near Canton, TX and it was quite common to see/hear them in the woods at night. I have a friend who works at DFW airport, and his job is to... "clear" animals from runways. He often sees both mountain lions and bobcats. I've personally seen them in Frisco and Little Elm. To anybody that doesn't believe they're still roaming around out there in Collin County, I give you this challenge: Go to an undeveloped area just off of 380 in McKinney. Spray a little cougar urine on yourself (available at Bass Pro Shops or Cabellas). Sprinkle your trail with raw meat, and play a recording of a cougar cry (sounds like a very large, demonic housecat). Then just wait half an hour. Then come back and tell me about all the new "friends" you meet =0) |

I have personally spotted 2 lions, one between Frisco and little elm, "Panter Creek" area sound familiar? There is a reason it's called panther creek. Also have seen 1 near the Ray Roberts dam area on the pilot point side. I also have a buddy that saw one in the coppell area along Denton tap road. All sightings legit, I know the difference between a bob cat and a lion.
