The only reason the city officials don't want to endorse the proposal is because they don't want anyone to tell them how to spend the casino money.$3,000,000.00 for 49 jobs? REALLY?!! So Ponds' family can have cushy jobs and forget about using the money to try to better the city. And the ice pond won't open because the SNI didn't pay? GIVE ME A FREEKING BREAK!! That ice pond has been open for over 40 years...how did that happen before the casino? It's just spite on the mayors part trying to blame all the problems on the SNI. How about putting the blame where it belongs right on the city officials--MISMANAGEMENT!

You are really some kind of tard arent you? FYI its already flooded and years ago we had a wonderful volunteer who spent many hours there so everyone could enjoy the pond but he died! The city has no staff to spare for it and the Nation will provide a few staff but only enrolled senecas! It would be nice if you posted about things you actually know about instead of talking out of your ASS all the time!

You mean the William G. Flanigan Ice skating pond???
Yes, I realize it is flooded but take some shovels and scrape off the ice and start skating, then if everyone does this the ice will be use able. Please, I know a lot and Bill Flanigan (a well known speed skater who always would do laps around the pond) is the person you spoke of, RIP (died 4-24-2010) my dear friend. He is the one who guided me to try a new adventure in skating, and his time and efforts brought forth numerous beatifically changes to the pond and he didn't want to be compensated for any of his time and effort but to continue the pond for further ice skaters. Just think of the City wouldn't of hired one needless person and put that $$ aside for staffing of the pond. Oh, you wrote how the city needs a staff and the SNI wouldn't assist well you dumb ass, Bill did it all by HIS SELF and didn't need a staff, why does the city need one now??
So, did I educate you a bit about the ice skating pond???
here we go again

I don't think there would be anything wrong with a bunch of kids and adults in the city to take their shovels and get that ice pond cleaned off so it can be used. If adults go up with their kids while they skate, they can supervise the darn thing. If something gets out of hand, call the cops. This might be a great opportunity for the Boy Scouts and other clubs to adopt that pond and get it going again. Folks in Salamanca claim they want their city back - roll up your sleeves and make Salamanca alive again. Don't sit there and expect someone else to do it!! When I took my kids to the Pond, I always saw Bill Flanigan there, either skating , maintaining or supervising. We would jump in and help clear snow, help with skates, etc. Get going, folks - the skating pond is an important part of Salamanca memories for hundreds of kids. Let's step it up!!

Why is it I'm sure that if anyone goes near the ice pond and starts doing anything, the city will have the cops there throwing you out. For one thing its city property and without insurance being paid for injuries the city could be sued and I'll bet that would be the main reason the cops will be there instantly if opening it is attempted.
Sorry to awaken you to that FACT.

True, same as skateboarders are yelled at for doing their thing on others property because the property owner doesn't want to be sued!
Whos fault is this? Not the kids but some idiots who allow these bogus crap get out of hand, spill a "hot " cup of coffee on ones self and sue McDonalds and win one million dollars; WTF!

I'm sure back in the day the city had insurance on the pond and it probably be a better investment than buying several (now unused) police cars for at the time the SPD could more cops on patrol than Jamestown or Olean!!!

Somewhere along the line as time has passed common sense has been left at the door....why is this???
